I'll finish off the last day of March with the last of my paper projects.

I mostly use free cut files on my Cricut because I'm cheap like that. Occasionally though I see something that's really cute and I break down and purchase a file. There's a website called My Scrap Chick that always has excellent sales and I purchased this one for $1

This is very three-dimensional but it does fold flat if you'd like to mail it. Here's a view from the side.

I used foam mounting tape on some of the layers so when this is flat it's pretty thick. I think if I were going to mail this I would glue all the layers together instead so it wouldn't be so bulky.

Today is another card following the same theme as yesterday's. This one I simply cut a three layer white cross. I also typed out the words He is risen attached it to a white rectangle and then flattened it so that I could do a print and cut. Add some pretty scrapbook paper and it made for a really nice Easter card

Next up is a card that I made. Instead of doing the typical Easter egg or bunny this one goes with the real meaning of the season. I found a clipart cross that I liked and downloaded it to my computer. Then I did it as a print and cut on my Cricut. I typed out the words "He is risen" added an offset and then flattened so that I could print then cut.

Of all the crafts I do, I think I enjoy working with paper the most and that's where I've been focusing lately. My first one was a free cut file from Design Bundles. This guy had some serious little pieces although I did make him smaller than the original file so that I could put him on a card.

Whether or not I'll ever get around to making a card with him is another story. He is rather cute though

a cake order

A week or so ago a lady came in to order a cake. She left me a paper plate and asked that I match the colors to the plate.

I don't know how close I am but this is what I did

Even if this doesn't match the plate perfectly, I do like the colors

I only worked 3 days last week but boy did those three days do me in. I came home from work Friday night and had another crash and burn evening. I spent all my time laying on the couch napping on and off until I went to bed. Saturday I was definitely draggin'.

This wood carving is from a place on the way to that town Amanda and I went to last weekend. He always has some really impressive things there. A dragon was certainly appropriate for today's post. There was also this one which I really liked

day four of a 4-day weekend

My fourth and final day started like all the others slow and lazy. I met my son and his family for lunch at Longhorns. The waitress was kind enough to take a picture of all of us. 

After lunch it was back home for a quick nap and wait for Amanda to come over. She made me dinner. She cooked a penne pasta with sausage casserole in The Pioneer Woman baking dish that she gave me as a gift

This was actually a picture of midway through it cooking. She told me I should wait until it was done to take the picture but I forgot. She also brought cupcakes for dessert

I had pictures taken with me and my son so I had to have one with my daughter as well. Excuse what appears to be a triple chin thing going on. I'm blaming it on old age.

It was another glorious slow start to the day. I spent a lot of time playing on the computer. I also worked on some craft projects. This is one that I copied from a project I saw on Facebook

 I also made a trip to Walmart. I had also gone to Walmart on Saturday with Amanda and bought myself a birthday present. I forgot to mention that the other day. I've been wanting a single serve coffee maker and I bought myself a Keurig

So this is what my little coffee corner looks like now. I won't get rid of the full size coffee maker because you never know when you need to make a whole pot

day two of a 4-day weekend

The second day of my 4-day weekend was Sunday. There is nothing better than sleeping in on a Sunday morning. Once I got myself moving the plan was to pull out my Easter decorations and take care of painting a room that needs to be done. I got the Easter decorations out and started decorating. That was as far as I got with the plan. I ended up doing a major cleaning job and moving my living room around

 I made myself liver and onions for dinner. Every now and then I get hungry for it. Let me just say it was delicious.

A while back they had pamphlets sitting at the registers at work.

 I told Amanda that I wanted to go here and we chose my long weekend to go. Well it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be it was still a fun time spending the day with my daughter. We stopped for lunch at Lou's Country Kitchen

It didn't look like much from the outside but the chicken sandwich and onion rings that I had were delicious. We went to the Whistle Stop Antique Mall which was in my opinion a big disappointment. I was expecting multiple floors and it was just one great big giant room. We did see some creepy looking Easter decorations

Happy Birthday to me.

It all started 61 years ago today. 

I decided to take a 4-day weekend for my birthday. I had off last Saturday, took Sunday as a vacation day, Monday was my regular day off and then today is a second vacation day. So far it's been a fun-filled weekend and I will spread those posts out over the week. Today I'm going out to lunch with my son and his family.

It's hard to believe that 61 years have gone by already. So how do I feel about that?

Honestly, I've never been one to fret about the number. I'm getting out of bed every morning and can move around on my own. I'd say I'm doing pretty good.

Happy Mail

I sent Presley a card for St Patrick's day. The day she got it in the mail, I got a text message from my son with pictures of Presley holding the card and he said that she was really excited about getting mail. We had a short conversation regarding happy mail and how nice it is to get something besides bills. That got me to thinking that maybe I should send him some happy mail as well. I made him this card

The cute little guys on the front of the card are supposed to be otters. Here's a close-up of one.

Cuteness for a dollar and a quarter

I found this adorable pillow cover at Dollar Tree. It came in either pink or blue. I only bought the pink one and now that I think of it I wish I would have bought the blue as well.

Gibbs thinks it would be cuter if it had a dog on it.

Easter candles

I'm just loving these Dollar Tree candles for holiday decorating. I came up with a couple designs for Easter.

I think the bunny bait is my favorite. When I saw the orange candle I knew it had to have something carrot related on it.

What came first the chicken or the egg

Today the whining comes first. Let me just say it sucked going back to work yesterday. Then that snow we were supposed to get on Friday that never amounted to much showed up Tuesday morning. I had to shovel the driveway when I got home.

In the case of this craft project, it started with an egg shape and a couple wood hearts. I painted the hearts orange.

I made him a vinyl face and glued everything together. I think his beak looks more like a duck than a chick but it is what it is. I also cut off the hanger and added some yellow tulle to sort of resemble a feather.

Another crafting spurt

I was in quite the crafty mood on Sunday. I completed several projects which I'm going to give you one at a time. The first one started with these items.

These are all items that were purchased from Dollar Tree. I painted the bunny head shapes White then I assembled the project.

I finished this off by making a couple bows from Orange fabric and glue them to the bunny ears. I saw this on one of the Facebook groups that I follow and thought it was really cute.

tickled pink

It was such a treat yesterday to not have to get up super early in the morning and get dressed for work. As I was sitting at my computer reading blogs and drinking coffee I happened to look out the window. The pink cast to this morning sky was perfect for the day

 I spent a disgusting amount of time playing on the computer and drinking coffee before I finally decided to get dressed. I worked on some craft projects and finished two more of the garlands. One is for my daughter and the other is for one of the girls at work . 

The snow was falling again so it was the perfect day to make a pot of chicken stew. I didn't follow any recipe I just sort of started throwing things in a pot . It was really quite tasty 

I put in chicken, carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, chicken broth, a little flour to thicken things up and a few spices. I probably should have wrote it down so I could remember what I did for next time.

Not much

We didn't get any more snow yesterday but it was cold and it was just a gray kind of day. It was a perfect day for sitting around the house doing not much of anything.

I did manage to do the laundry, clean up the kitchen and bits and pieces of craft projects. I also decided to watch a movie. For some unexplained reason I couldn't resist watching Puss in Boots The Last Wish

Not sure what I'll do today but I can tell you that I will be starting off by sleeping in.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The good:  The good is that I have a 3-day weekend. I decided that I was going to take Sunday off since that is the day we set our clocks ahead. I already get up early enough on Sunday morning and with losing an hour I would have been walking around like a zombie. 

The bad: The bad is that after 3 days I have to go back to work. 

The ugly: The ugly is that on Friday it started snowing. The forecast had said up to 7 inches then later changed to up to 4 inches. As of the time that I wrote this post, there wasn't nearly as much as I had thought we would have. 

I missed one

I just realized that on my last run of crafting projects I missed showing one of them. This is just another one of those Dollar Tree candles that I added a vinyl design too

 the letters don't seem to show up too well in the picture.

The problem with procrastination

On Tuesday I didn't think that I had anything to use for a blog post. Then I remembered that I had recently done a cake at work. Perfect! That's what I'll use for a blog post. Unfortunately, me being the procrastinator that I am, I kept putting it off and putting it off. I waited so long that I finally fell asleep on the couch watching TV. By the time I woke up there was no way I was going to sit in front of the computer and do a post. That explains why I wasn't here yesterday. The good thing however, is that I still have that cake to use for today.

The customer asked for this with strawberry icing but we don't have that. She asked if I could just frost it all pink. That I could do. She also asked that the writing not be in cursive. She said the cake was for a 6 year old and she couldn't read cursive. Let me just say that I don't like printing on a cake.
