I made something for me

 I found this cute little chalkboard at Walmart. I think it was $5. 

Anyway, I didn't want it for a chalkboard. I had something else in mind. I found a free svg file on Caluya Design and cut that on my Cricut machine. It now sits on the top shelf of my desk.

Now I just need to find a design for the other side.

Bunny Money

 I saw a really cute bunny money holder somewhere. I looked at it and thought, I can make that. I don't remember where it was that I found it, otherwise I would share the link with the original idea.

Anyway, I went to Cricut's Design space and set out to make my own. This is made with cardstock. I cut tow of the base piece which is the square with the slits and a bunny head. I glued them together to make it a little stronger. Next is the head, pink inside ear, nose and eyes. I added blush for the cheeks, black pen for the whiskers and mouth and around the eyes and a white pen for the parts in the eye. Lastly there were two piece for the paws and 4 pieces for the feet.

Then you just insert the money and roll it. I did have to secure the dollar bill with a bit of tape to keep it from unrolling.

I probably could have made the slits just a tad bit narrower but all in all I think it came out pretty cute. I'm going to replace the $1 with a $5 and tuck this in to Presley's Easter basket.

The cost of air

 When I posted a few days ago about my less than stellar start to my birthday, Pam left the following comment.

Hoping you had a great bday other than the issues you mentioned. My car tells me I have low air pressure in a tire, but don't tell me which tire. That becomes a pain in the rear. Plus, the fact that most places went up on the price of air....which is crazy. We pay for bottle water and we pay for AIR...lol

My car does the same. It will tell me low tire pressure but not which tire is low. That means when I go, I have to fill all 4 tires. She mentions that the price of air has gone up. A while back it used to cost a quarter to use the air pumps but then they went back to it being free. I'm thankful that I don't have to pay for it. 

It got me to wondering how many other places charge for air. Do they charge for air where you live?

Apparently it's not working for me though. It's showing up as an image and not a video. Darn

While we're on the subject of Gibbs I have to tell you about how he amuses me when he's not annoying me. He's really quite intelligent and yet he can do the stupidest things.

I let him out in the back yard on his lead and he walks around the picnic table that is out there. When I call him to come in he can't get to the door because he's wrapped around the table. If I tell him go around the other way he actually does it and can easily come in without me having to go out and untangle him.

We were in the kitchen one day and I was making coffee. He apparently thought I was ready to go back downstairs to the Ann cave as he headed for the basement door. I said out loud, "I need to pee". He turned right around and went up the stairs to the bathroom.

Out with Amanda

Last Saturday Amanda and I went to an Amish store. 

They Have the most gorgeous wood furniture there. Plus they also have bulk foods. Amanda bought some chocolate covered espresso beans

And I got some dip mix.  I made some with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and it was delicious. This container holds quite a bit of mix and you only use 1/4 cup with 8oz of either sour cream or Greek yogurt. I'll be able to make quite a bit of dip.

After that we went and shopped for stuff for Easter dinner. 

Doodles

I have more doodles from my breakout sheets at work

The week before St. Patrick's day I just did a rainbow so for March 17th I carried the rainbow over to land in a pot of fold

Then I left a little doodle message for the deli manager who works bakery on my days off.

Now, if only we could get those flowers to start popping up around here. We've had cold temps and snow for far too many days. It is supposed to be warmer today though so maybe finally spring will push old man winter out of the way and take hold.

On my birthday

The day got off to a rough start. Well, after the sleeping in and leisurely drinking my morning coffee it started to go down hill. I decided to go to Erie to get my picture taken for my license. It was cold, the heater in my car isn't working but I figured I could just bundle up. On the way there, my low tire pressure light came on. I stopped at two different gas stations trying to put air in my tires. I was freezing and the gauge kept jumping around saying 9lbs then 31, 16, 26. I didn't know if I was getting air in the tires or letting more out. I finally said the heck with it and just went on my way. Got to the drivers license place and got that taken care of. Got back in the car and headed to Walmart. Only had one glove and my hands were freezing. Walmart had no gloves other than men's work gloves. 

It did get better after that. I made several stops but didn't spend much money. Mostly just did window shopping and stopped at Arby's for lunch.

Later I went to Amanda's for dinner and she had a cake for me

Then I came back home and just lounged around. The day wasn't a total loss but it certainly wasn't the kind of day that one would wish for. 

Selfie

When we were at Kraynaks Amanda spotted this cute figurine of a mother and child bunny taking a selfie.

Well of course I had to take a selfie of the two of us with her holding that figurine.

I kind of cut myself off but that's ok.

More cakes

Here are the most recent cakes I've done at work.

I thought this one said 8a.m. so I did it the day before. The next morning it didn't get picked up so I called the number on the order and left a message. The guy who ordered it called back later and said it was for 8p.m. OOPS! My mistake.

This one is very plain because she had a cake topper that she was planning on putting on the cake in the upper left hand corner. She just wanted the writing in the bottom right.. 

This lady ordered the cake and when I asked her what colors she wanted she said bright colors. Then she started listing them off. Red, yellow, blue, green. My brain shut down after red and yellow so that's all I put on the cake.

Happy Birthday to me.

 Yes, today is my birthday. Hooray!! I am 62. Oy! How did that happen?

I decided the best gift I could give myself was to take vacation days. I'm off today and don't go back to work until Tuesday. The weather is supposed to be cold, I have no plans, but I don't care one bit. I'm just happy to be off.

A simple craft.

I take my own pens, markers and pencils to work because pens disappear like crazy. I don't share so I needed somewhere to keep them without having to take them home. I purchases a cheap pencil case at Dollar Tree and decorated it.

I added the purple vinyl and my name in blue glitter vinyl.

Another Kraynaks visit

Saturday Amanda and I went to Hermitage Pa for another visit to Kraynaks. This time it was their Easter display. We followed the bunny trail.

And arrived at the Willy Wonka Factory.

I'm not real sure what this one is but it was colorful and cute.

I have no idea who Pennwhistle is but here's his Toy Emporium.

This one may have been my favorite. The pictures all came out dark and most were blurry. It's a woodland theme. Not Eastery but maybe springtime in the forest?

Next was a display that had Crayola crayons, smurfs and lots of bright colors and other characters.

The final one was the religious theme and it was gorgeous.

And so ends another trip to Kraynaks. We'll be back again near Christmas time I'm sure.

A walk in the park

Last week I decided to stop at the borough park after work and take a walk. The road that runs around the park is about 1/3 of a mile. The plan was to do 3 laps. I did two and decided that was enough. I'm going to have to work my way up to 3.

It was a beautiful day

When I got home I noticed things springing to life in my yard. 

My poor overgrown forsythia. It will need a trim after it's done blooming.

Daffodils will be blooming soon

And the hydrangea will be full of beautiful green leave before long.

The next day I went back to the park after work and took another walk. I don't know why I didn't notice it the first time but this tree caught my eye and looked so pretty.

The next day was much colder and rainy so that was the end to my walking. I'm going to try to get in a habit of doing this though. If I go right after work I have a better chance than if I were to go home first.

Just another cake.

 This cake was ordered last week. Nothing fancy

a little crafting for Easter

Sunday I finished up a project I've been working on. I think I found this idea on Facebook. 

It starts with one pack pack of the bunny and carrot wood ornament blanks. One pack of each will make 2.

You glue 5 of each shape together to make one thick piece. Add a little paint and then glue the bunny on top of the carrot. Then just a bit of silk flowers and a bit of excelsior and a simple jute twine bow.

I filled the hole in the ears on one with some spackle but forgot to on the other. Looking at the two of them you can still see where the hole was even on the filled one.

See a penny pick it up

Do you pick up pennies if you see one on the ground? Whenever I see one that old poem always goes through my head. See a penny pick it up all day you'll have good luck. See a penny leave it lay, bad luck you'll have all day. I'm not about to risk having bad luck just because I didn't pick up a penny.

I don't care which side is facing up either

I was over due

Last week besides my hearing appointment, I also had an appointment to get my hair cut. I tend to wait too long in between. The girl who cuts my hair said there are two types of people, the ones who have a regular schedule for hair appointments and keep them faithfully, and the ones who wait until their hair is driving them nuts and can't take it any longer. I'm the second type.

The girl I've been going to has yet to give me a haircut I don't like.

soups on

I've had a soup craving. I had bought what I needed to I make a sausage potato soup then couldn't find the recipe again. I did a search and came up with another one

I added bacon and spinach to the original recipe. It was really tasty and hit the spot.
