Another update

My eye was worse yesterday so I went to the ER. That doctor took a better look and said there was a scratch.  He gave me a different prescription and he also gave me a card for an eye doctor he said he wants me to call.

It's still hard for me to look at a computer screen for very long so I'm not reading blogs and only answering a couple emails.

Be back when I can.

Update

Just to let everyone know, Friday I went to urgent care to have my eye checked. First I tried my doctors office back and was told "I'm so sorry but no one is in the office today." Then I tried the place where I get my eye exams for glasses. I was told the same thing, the doctor was out of the office until Tuesday. Both women that I talked to said they thought I probably had scratched my eye and should go to the emergency room.

I opted for urgent care since it was the closest. I was in and out very quickly and only was away from work for an hour and fifteen minutes. The doctor there looked at my eye. I told him I had taken an allergy pill in the morning and it had helped with the watering. His conclusion was that it was allergy related. He then told me I could either continue with the allergy pill and using the anti-itch eye drops or he could write me a prescription for antibiotic eye drops. His words were "It's up to you, I don't care either way, I'm indifferent." He didn't say it in a mean way but was a strange thing to say. I opted to have him write me the prescription.

I'm writing this on Saturday and at this time I'm not 100% but it does feel a whole lot better. I chose to not read blogs again just to take some extra time away from the screen. Not to mention I don't have anything to blog about any way. I'm probably end up with a huge reading list. I may or may not get to them all.

Eye issue

I woke up yesterday morning feeling like there was something in my eye. I did everything I could think of but I couldn't get it out. All day long at work my eye was bothering me. It was watering and a bit sore. I called the doctor and the receptionist transferred  me to somebody else and all I got was her voicemail. I left a message and never heard back. After work I ended up going to the drug store next door to work and asked them if they could recommend something. I purchased an eye wash and an eye drop. I'm hoping this will help clear everything up. Needless to say I didn't read any blogs last night or catch up on my email. I'll be back when the eye is feeling better

I've got nothing.

I really have nothing to post about. Other than my typical week of work and home again there is nothing special to talk about. I've used it all up. I haven't had any ambition to work on any craft projects at all. I've been spending all my off time practicing my slug imitation. I'm really quite good at it.

I could talk about my work frustrations but that will just make my blood boil. Who knew there were so many frustrating people in the world.

I know, I'll tell you about the phone call I took at work. A woman calls and tells me that the bakery they were getting their bread from won't deliver to them anymore and wanted to know who we had to deliver. I thought she was asking if we delivered and I told her me did not. (Now put on your best snotty voice when you read this next line) I'm talking about who are your vendors that deliver, since your close to me they maybe could deliver here also. I tell her one of them is Schwebels. (You didn't put that snotty voice away did you? You'll need it for her lines) I just told you, Schewebels doesn't deliver here any more. I then told her that I didn't know the name of the other company that delivered. She says " The bread aisle is like 5 steps away, can't you walk over there and see what kind of bread is on the shelf?" So by this time I'm getting really annoyed. My voice might be a bit snippy and I tell her, the types of bread we have over there aren't going to tell me the name of the company that delivers it. She finished off the conversation with an extremely snippy "You know what, just forget it. Thank you for your time, you've been most helpful"

I have to say, that lady was a real butt head.

Would you believe this ashtray with one single cigarette butt is still sitting out on the desk railing from Wade.

Dollar Tree chopping mat

While scrolling through a Dollar Tree Cricut craft group on Facebook I came across a Dollar Tree chopping mat garden flag. The chopping mats come in packs of 2. I created my designs and made myself a garden flag

Now I just need to put the holes at top for hanging.

Regarding yesterday post and Dogtor Gizmo. He is a dental therapy dog. I'm assuming the TH is for therapy and the D is for dog. If you would like to read about him and see a picture of him you can go to this link Meet Dogtor Gizmo

dentist and dogs

Sunday after work turned into a sleep fest and I never got a post scheduled for yesterday. I'm back today though.

I had a dentist appointment last Thursday. When I got there I had to take a picture of the door before I went in.

How many dogs do you know that have their name on a door?

While sitting in the waiting room I snapped a picture of The Giving Tree.

I'm not sure what this was all about but it was decorated with pictures of dogs

A dog loving dentist is ok with me. Actually I've always liked this dentist. His staff on the other hand, at times, has been a whole different story. Right now, everyone in his office is really nice.

The best laid plans

Friday I had lofty ambitions for my day off. I even got a head start on some of the cleaning. Saturday morning I woke with the intentions of following through with my plans. I drank my cup of coffee and read blogs. I got dressed much earlier than I usually do on a day off. I threw in the laundry and got it started. It was a beautiful morning so I went out back with my camera and took some pictures. That is where the ambition ended.

Oh well there's always tomorrow.

If you're up for some Sunday funnies, yesterday, I posted something on Facebook that I find humorous. If you follow me there you may have already seen it but for those who don't, here it is.

So yesterday at work I managed to fall on my butt coming out of the walk in freezer. I jokingly said to the girl I was working with, "I need to be careful. At my age I could break a hip." Without any hesitation she replied "Don't worry, bumbles bounce."

via GIPHY

If you aren't familiar with a bumble, he's from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Yukon Cornelius exclaimed "Bumbles bounce" near the end of the movie.

Before you ask, I didn't get hurt when I fell. I was just happy that no one saw me do it.

More from my yard.

Just some random pictures I took while wandering around in my yard.

This tree is actually in my neighbors yard
I kept seeing all these little pink things in my newly mulched front bed and I couldn't figure out what it was. I finally realized it was coming from this tree. It sure is pretty.

Oh what a beautiful morning

I'm still stuck on Sunday morning, but that's where all my blog material comes from. It started out to be a beautiful day so I went out in the yard with the camera. If you follow me on Facebook, you may have already seen these.
Not everyone likes dandelions but I can't help taking pictures of them every year. My next door neighbor has none in his yard.

Sunday morning

I had decided to take Sunday off since my regular day off on Saturday was taken up by the wedding. It's been forever since I've gone out to breakfast so I asked Amanda to go with me. Doesn't she look so thrilled to be there?

Amanda kindly pointed out the 55-plus section on the menu for me and I ordered a delicious two egg omelet with a blueberry muffin and a side of hash browns

Pioneer Woman Wednesday

Before I move on to todays subject I wanted to answer a question that a few of you asked yesterday. Some of you wanted to know if I did the wedding cake. The answer is no, I didn't. I was simply an invited guest.

I have other Pioneer Woman Wednesday items to show that I've had for a lot longer but I decided to show you my latest purchase. Sunday morning Amanda and I went out to breakfast and afterwards stopped at Walmart. We saw these fragrance warmers and since I hadn't used the gift card that Amanda gave me for my birthday I decided this would be my purchase

I've had other electric fragrance warmers in the past, but the nice thing about this one is that it has a switch that allows you to set it for 2, 4 or 8 hours. I also purchased some Yankee Candle fragrance wax melts. The scent was Bahama breeze.

The wedding

Some of you may be wondering how the wedding went. It was nice, I made it through. I didn't have to change my shoes before I got home so that was a good thing.

Me and my son before the wedding.

Unfortunately I didn't get any group pictures because when we went out with the photographer I left my camera. Maybe once those come out I might be able to get some to share. I of course have a whole bunch more but I think this is enough for one post.

And here's the after.

So glad you stopped by today. I've got pictures of my front yard looking much better and cleaner than it did before.

The pictures I showed yesterday, that work was done on April 26th. The job wasn't completed until May 10th because he had to wait to get the mulch and stone. Stone is for by my back door which had turned into a big mud puddle courtesy of Mr. Gibbs.

So lets take a look at what he did.

He built up around the tree and mulched around it.

To the left of the door the bush was taken out and now instead of one hydrangea, I have two. I need to take that bird feeder out of there and put it away.

To the right of the door, he took what was planted in there already and moved things to be more spaced out. He also moved the big rocks that I had sitting in there and evenly spaced those.

He finished off by taking all the various yard art items I had and arranging those throughout the three areas. There was more than just this one butterfly but I added this because there isn't quite enough pictures in this post yet. (sorry about the overload)

Finally by the back door, the stone he put down to keep the area mud free. Being the jerk that he is, Mr. Gibbs has already pooped here once. I'm hoping he doesn't make a habit out of it.

Well there you have it.

Before and after

For years now the front of my house has not been very attractive. I finally decided to ask my lawn guy what he could do with it to make it look a little better. He checked things out made some suggestions and then gave me an estimate. I gave him the go-ahead to do the work.

Here are the before pictures. I told him I wanted that horrible looking evergreen bush gone and the only thing I cared about saving was the hydrangea.

And here are the during pictures

Tomorrow I'll have the after pictures (I think) I assuming the work will all be done by then.

Worry worm

While scrolling through Facebook one day I came across a post for a small crochet project. I thought to myself that's something I can do while I watch TV. It was for a worry worm.
The purpose of these is to be a type of anxiety toy. You can stretch it, play with it, tell it your worries or anything else that makes you feel just a little bit better. Since doing these I've also seen a little poem that can go with them.
Here he is without his eyes attached yet

And one with his eyes.

The next Diamond painting project

The kit that I bought after completing the key chains was for suncatchers. It came with four different ones in the kit. So far I've only completed the first one.

The dress

Some of you had asked to see what the dress looks like that I got for my son's wedding

This one is not quite as fancy as the one I bought for Amanda's wedding. However this one is more versatile and I would be able to wear it more places. The dress itself is sleeveless and I could wear it without the jacket. I also bought new shoes even though I could have worn the same shoes I wore with the other dress.

The wedding is this coming Saturday. Maybe I'll have better pictures of me in the dress after that.

Pioneer Woman Wednesday

I took all the pictures of my Pioneer Woman stuff quite a while ago. When I started this series I didn't go in order of how I took the pictures so now I'm not sure what I've shown and what I haven't. If this is a repeat I apologize.

I had purchased a utensil holder that I thought I liked. The three glass containers are on a wood turntable. This no longer has any utensils in it because I replaced it with a smaller one that takes up less room on the counter. Now this one sits on my hutch because, while it didn't work well for me on the counter, I still like it and can't get rid of it.

This is the one that sits on my counter now. I found it at Walmart sometime around Christmas. It was on sale for $7

Back to Mother's day

Today I'm going to take a quick trip back to Mother's Day. You know that I had to work but that's nothing new. I always work on Mother's Day. The day wasn't a total loss. A co-worker came in and gave me a carnation, the boss gave me a plant and my daughter and her husband stopped over and gave me a Pioneer Woman planter and a garden flag.
In addition to that Wade's youngest son had sent me a Mother's Day card in the mail and then texted me Sunday morning. My son couldn't be bothered with coming to see me but sent the obligatory text message.
On another note, the other day Anni commented that said I think I left a comment earlier! Did it end up in your spam folder?!!

Well, I went and looked and sure enough, not only was her comment in spam but so were several others. I have no idea why that happened. Had Anni not said anything I never would have noticed.

A thank you

Today I have a little story that goes along with the baby shower cake I showed you the other day. That cake had been ordered for a Saturday. The following Monday was the day that I had that big donut order. On Tuesday I went to work to discover that I had another donut order for 18 dozen at 7:00 am Wednesday morning. Needless to say my Tuesday was not off to a good start. Later on in the morning a customer came up and said can I talk to you. My initial reaction was oh no I have a complaint. She motioned me down to the end of the counter where she proceeded to tell me that I had made her daughter's birthday cake as well as that baby shower cake. Then she told me that I was a gift and handed me an Amazon gift card. She said that she had won it at the baby shower and knew that she had to give it to me. I told her it was totally unnecessary but she made my day. It sure is nice to know when your work is appreciated. She definitely put a smile on my face

On the post with the cake Anni had asked if the booties were something I learned or tried for the first time. Well I was taught how to do these a long long time ago by another girl who used to work in the bakery. I've made a lot of them over the years.

Happy Mothers Day

I would like to wish all the moms out there a very happy Mother's Day. I hope you enjoy your day no matter what you decide to do.

Being that it's Sunday I have to work but I have nothing planned any way.

It's a boy

I recently had a cake order for a baby shower. The woman who ordered it told me to do whatever I wanted but she did request pale green and yellow.

I tried something different with the writing. Instead of using a writing tip I used one that I normally use for borders. I kind of liked the look.

I made baby booties out of marshmallows. You you take two marshmallows and connect them with a toothpick then add a third one sideways to the bottom one and attach with another toothpick. Then using the star tip cover it with the frosting. Finish it off with a little bow

The last think I did was add a few little plastic duckies to finish it off.
