All in a days work

So things have slowed way down at work. I don't know if it's because of the latest stay at home order, the fact that people are totally stocked up on food or because it's the end of the month and people are out of money. Whatever the reason is, it's left us with a new problem. We've ordered for mad rush we were getting. Most of my product is frozen so it will keep until I get around to using it. Our produce and meat department don't have that same luxury. I imagine those two departments might be running some in store specials.

Any way, I had a cake order to do yesterday. I haven't had one of those in quite a while. It was just a quarter sheet cake and those are always quick and easy for me. They asked for blues and greens.

I'm so sorry for your store manager. Trying to be responsive then people suddenly tapering off the shopping.

As usual, I love looking at your cakes. :)

Beautiful work! I love the shade of green. Around here, all our stores' bakeries and delis have shut down.

the cake is really pretty, I like the colors.. and you did not have to use 6 colors on it. we have been talking about the glut of food that will be in all stores. last Tuesday there were 7 semi's unloading, but what we talked about is what you said here, sooner or later people will run out of funds and also maybe calm down. hope your store loses no food supplies.. there appears to be no end in sight of this virus horror

It amazes me how people have flocked to the stores just buying all of the food that can be found. Seriously wondering where they put it all? Was there a run on freezers being purchased as well? I am thankful that I had most of what I needed. My husband wanted to leave the house yesterday evening so we went to a local market where I knew there would not be many people and was thankful to get the bread that we needed. I planned to make some but it seems that my oven is not currently working correctly. Figures?

Very pretty! Makes me want a piece to go with my coffee. ;-) It's been over 3 weeks since I've been to the grocery store and 3 weeks since I've been out at all. I miss grocery shopping, I miss church and my small ladies group. I miss seeing family and friends. I have been working out in my gardens more so that's a good thing. I have food to eat for now and necessities also, so what more do I need. I pray that your store will be able to handle the slow down and hopefully this will all be a thing of the past soon.

Be well, stay safe and thank you for your kind comments on my blog. Love, hugs and prayers ~ FlowerLady

Mmm, mmm - tempting cake. Our daughter is reporting the same slow down. The local mom n pop here is offering delivery. They normally have a busy catering service which I'm sure has slowed down. So several vans available for use in delivering is probably a factor.

Ginny, I don't know, I know I would want to eat the whole thing but I'm sure I couldn't do it. At least not without ending up with one heck of a stomach ache.

CheerfulMonk, it's a hard thing to judge.

Anni, blue and green are my favorite colors. So far we've been lucky and we've been able to keep both departments open. I know in some of the other stores they are also open but with limited availability.

Carol, I know what you mean. Also, I'm wondering how they could afford the amount that some of them are buying. Too bad about the oven. Not a good time for that.

Kate, enjoy and best part is a virtual piece of cake is calorie free

Gayle, That's awesome that they are offering delivery.

apparently a lot of problems here for store owners and supplies...some from have to shift them off cheapily, through to not enough to serve the now "rushing to hoard folks"

one of the supermarket chains said "stop taking the toilet paper - that takes up so much room in the trucks, therefore we can't restock the usual essential products"

this was particularly insane the TP fiasco as we make our own TP here! Very little is even imported...

Ugh! Cake sounds so good right now and it's not even 9:00 on a Sunday morning. I'm trying desperately to not gain 50 pounds before this is all over!

GratefulPrayer, thank you. I wonder if comments are getting sent to the spam folder again. I'll have to check

Catherine the hoarding has become crazy. One customer said in a month all these people that were hoarding are going to start trying to return the massive amounts of products they bought and he hopes the stores tell them no.

The cake is lovely.
Glad your stuff can be frozen. Hopefully people will be in again buying up that meat.
