Paper vs digital.

I recently was gifted an iPad. If I've got an iPad I need to have the Procreate app that Sandra always uses. I've got a lot to learn yet but I've figured out a few things.

First I drew a picture in my sketch book. Then I decided to try and draw it in Procreate.

Here is the paper and marker version.

And here is the Procreate version

Next I drew a Christmasey picture

Then I found a line drawing on Facebook. I wanted to see if I could color it in Procreate. I think it turned out pretty good.

This is a lot of fun and I can see using it a lot. I don't think I'll give up drawing on paper though. Maybe it will be a combination of drawing on paper and then copying on Procreate.

Week 24 drawings

Happy Black Friday everyone. I'm off to work this morning. No shopping for me. That's ok because I've never gone out Black Friday shopping anyway.

I've got week 24 drawings for you today. The last of the turkey drawings except for one I'll show you tomorrow. Tis the season for leftover turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today I want to wish all of my blogging friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. Even if you don't live in the U.S. you can still celebrate the things you are thankful for.

Today I've got the day off and Amanda will be coming over to cook our yearly Thanksgiving feast. It's been wonderful since she took over the cooking duties. I plan on sitting back and just enjoying the day.

Here's a look back and some past Thanksgiving days at my house. I have no idea what year any of these are from but the last one couldn't have been any later than 2017 because Wade was in the picture.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Last Saturday

There were two craft shows on the calendar for the day but I didn't feel like going to either one. I asked Amanda if she wanted to check out the Christmas store at the mall and go to Hobby Lobby instead. That's what we did.

The Christmas store is called Spirit Christmas.

They had some nice stuff there but it was definitely over priced.
While we were at the mall we also stopped at Bath and Body works. They had their soaps on sale for $2.97 or something like that. The place was packed and Amanda decided she didn't want to stand in line.

She asked if I was hungry and I said yes so we stopped at Arby's for lunch. It was very tasty.

They were all decked out for Christmas and even had decorations on all the tables.

Last stop before heading home was Hobby Lobby. Would you believe I spent a whole dollar there? All I bought was a package of Christmas wood spoons to go with some hot cocoa gifts I'm planning on putting together for Christmas gifts.

What?

I came home from work one day and this truck was parked in front of my house.

Whoever this was, he was working at the house across the street. Him and a couple others were blowing all the leaves in the yard into a pile. I couldn't get a very good picture of it all.

Then they used a big hose and picked up all the leaves

This is a young couple with 3 small children. I imagine they paid this guy to come clean all the leaves out of their yard. I'm wondering why they would do this because one windy day and all the leaves in my yard are going right over there. If not my leaves, surely from surrounding houses will end up there.

Aside from feeling like this is an incredible waste of money, they have kids. What little kid doesn't love to jump into a pile of leaves?

Maybe I'm the silly one because I just don't get it. If this is something you do, please don't take offense, I simply don't get it.

Stupid is as stupid does.

I walked in to work last week one day to find this note sitting on my table.

This employee doesn't like when I leave him notes. He says he's tired of my passive aggressive notes. I have always though of my notes as being informational and since I never see the night person, leaving notes is the only way I have to let them know something.

Anyway I wrote a note for him and it read:

Bob,

No we are not out of plastic bags for the Italian bread. They are in the hall where they have been for years. As a matter of fact they are even sticking out of the box.

Ann

Ok so this one may have had a tad bit of passive aggressive tones to it but his note annoyed me because it was obvious that he didn't even look. I've got proof. I opened the deli/bakery door leading out to the hall where the bags are kept. Standing in the doorway I could clearly see the bags. Second shelf up on the left.

See, sticking out of the box

Last Monday

I didn't get to have another stay home all day in my pajamas. What a shame because those were very productive days.

Instead I had a doctors appointment in the morning. Just a wellness visit because I was on the last refill for my prescription.

I got there about 10 minutes before my 9:00 appointment.

I filled out the usual paperwork to update all my info. Let me just say that I'm really annoyed by the question "what sex do I identify as." I declined to answer. I clearly stated that I am female and that's all there is to it.

Then I sat and waited. I watched this door for 45 minutes.

I finally got called back. She apologized saying she had gotten derailed first thing that morning. Well let me just say that I was derailed as well.

The original plan was to leave here, go to Walmart for a couple things then back home to work on craft projects. All was well until I cut out some vinyl for a shirt, weeded it and realized I cut it backwards. That was it for the day. The rest of the day was spent on the couch watching Hallmark Christmas movies.

Draw down with Sandra

I was scrolling through Facebook one day and came across a post that I sent to Sandra in a text and asked her if she was up for a challenge.

Well I think before I challenged her I should have tried to draw this first. After I sent the text and she accepted the challenge I tried a quick sketch on a post it note. It was the most horrid looking drawing I've ever done. It went straight in the trash. Then I finally sat down and tried again.

First attempt. Nope. Didn't like it.

Second attempt. I could see early on that this one was going even worse than the first one so this was as far as I got.

Third attempt. I quit after this. I could tell that it just wasn't going to get any better.

If you haven't already been to Sandra's blog, hop on over there and see how her drawing came out.

Last Saturday

The original plan last Saturday was to go to a large craft show in Erie and a small one that is the church a stones throw away from my house.

Saturday morning came and Amanda sent me a text asking if I knew that the craft show in Erie had a $5 admission fee which I did. I told her I didn't really feel like going though and wouldn't be heartbroken if she didn't want to. She said she was only going because she didn't want to hurt my feelings.

The craft show at the church was still on my list of things to do. In the meantime I found another one that was in Jefferson Ohio at the high school and it was free. We decided to go to that one.

I went to the church one and bought some holiday scented wax melts from a woman I know that makes candles and the melts. Then I went and picked Amanda up.

I took exactly one picture while we were out

I actually thought I took a second picture at the craft show but it wasn't on my phone. The only thing I bought at this craft show were two chocolate covered pretzel rods. What can I say, I wanted a snack.

After we left there we stopped at Dollar Tree and Walmart. I picked up something for dinner and bought a Christmas present for my son in law. Then it was back home to do laundry and just chill out for the rest of the day.

Thankful Thursday

We're getting closer all the time to the big day. Next week we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving here in the U.S.

So lets talk turkey. Remember that turkey I bought a couple weeks ago at a craft show?

There were questions about him when I posted him. Here he is standing next to the front door to give you an idea of how tall he is. I also measured him and he stands about 32" high. He does stand, and doesn't hang on a wall. He sits next to my front door now but next Thursday I will put him out on the front porch for the day.

Week 23 drawings.

This week I tried to stay away from any specific seasonal theme.

This cute little mouse might be my favorite this time.

The next two are kind of Thanksgiving related but not too much.

Making decisions.

It's not always easy to make decisions. Not only do we struggle with them sometimes but so does Gibbs.

He was looking through his toy basket the other day.

He knew there was something in there that he wanted to play with but he didn't know what. He finally made a decision.

Just take them all

Cake walk

I have quite a few cakes to post today. Normally I would spread these out but I thought I would throw them all in one post this time.

So you may remember the woman who always orders cakes with tons of different colors. She ordered one and asked for all pastel colors, a purple border and she wanted each rose on the cake a different color. I'm sure you can guess what my reaction was to this order. I decided I would give her 3 flowers and no more. I was generous and added the rose buds but they were in the same three colors that I used for each rose.

Next up was 2 different cakes that were for Veterans day. One was  in fall colors and the other red, white and blue.

Last up was the order that I had for 2 full sheet cakes and both were to be the same. It was for the chorus department at the school and she just wanted music notes all over them. I only took a picture of the first one because the second one look just like this.
