Tuesday Dec 2

It wasn't a pleasant morning. I got up and we had gotten snow over night. It was still snowing. Then I got on Facebook and read that someone posted how bad the roads were.

I went out to start the car, clean it off and shovel the driveway a bit.

I got about 3/4 of the driveway done and just couldn't do any more. This old body just can't take it like I could in the past.

I pulled out of the driveway and headed to work. Normally my drive there is about a half hour. I was only about half way to work and the half hour had already passed. I couldn't take it any more. I pulled into a parking lot, texted the girl at work and told her I was turning around and going back home.

When I made it back home, I finished shoveling the driveway and then went inside. I ended up sleeping til 12:30 and when I woke up it was sunshiney and the road was clear. Had I just pushed on I would have been fine. I spent the day on the couch watching Hallmark Christmas movies instead.

Good for you! I am proud of you. sometimes you just have to be your own advocate, because no one knows you better then yourself. And it seems you needed the rest badly. Who knows what might have happened if you went ahead?

Oh dear. I'm not a fan of snow. You made a good choice turning back around.

The snow is pretty, but I get having to get to work in it is such a pain. I don't think I would have even attempted to go in.

You did the sensible thing and probably needed the rest anyway.

oh no... a missed days pay! I can't imagine cleaning the driveway before work and driving in it, but I don't think I could do that either, not even if I were younger than I am now.. glad you were safe home and got extra shut eye. its easy to sleep in the mornings after all that heavy snow lifting. I never took naps in daytime until the last 8 months. exhauston makes one need a nap.

Ann I'm so sorry you have to deal with the snowfreaks that seem to think your home is their home.
Pace yourself on the shoveling.

I have to say I am glad I don't have to deal with all the shoveling and scraping anymore. I can just enjoy the beauty of it...but it is a royal pain when you have to get somewhere! ;)

I honestly can't imagine having to shovel the driveway. It's always nice to have time to catch up on rest and to watch a hallmark movie

Hallmark movies are the perfect snow therapy!
I can't even imagine having to deal with all that shoveling and driving in it.
Take care

Well, I think it was a tough decision - your tried - and it just wasn't safe! Good taking care of yourself.

I think you were very smart. Getting out of the neighborhoods around here is tricky and always remember the school getting into trouble for not cancelling because at least one of the kids around here fell and broke her leg. There were also a lot of people falling. We had snow but it was light and didn't stick on the roads. I noticed when we went out this morning, the salt trucks had been out for the early morning ice.

It seemed like the right decision at the time. You couldn't have known it would clear.

Very sensible!

So you could do that, just call in a say you are not coming in? So sorry about all the snow and I know that I would never be able to shovel your driveway. G

I didn't finish. I'm glad you enjoyed watching the Hallmark movies.
