I tried once years ago to learn how to knit and could never get the hang of it. I decided to see if I could teach myself now. I've got lots of yarn to play with and knitting needles aren't expensive.
I figured out how to cast on and knit. So far so good. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do anything more than simple things but it was something new to do.
I also purchased a 4" pin loom. I thought it would be an easy thing to take to work. It didn't come with any directions but I looked up weaving on a pin loom. I got lots of different videos but none were helpful and none had looms that looked like mine. I got very frustrated and gave up. I'll keep going back to it to see if I can figure it out but I don't hold out much hope.

I like this color. I have not heard of a pin loom, but have seen ones where you wrap the yarn around a circle of pins.
I taught myself how to knit a few years ago, but then gave up. I felt it was too repetitive.
Sounds like having extra time at work, will force you to learn new things. keep at it, I wish I could even try, but it just frustrates me, as does sewing, crafts, I try and get so frustrated I stop... its just not one of my gifts. to bad I can't talk a knit project.
Try YouTube...they will even teach you how to dance on a highwire...lol...I'm basically teaching myself to make quilts at 74. You Can Do This!
hugs
Donna!
Good for you using all of your spare time for something creative. I used to be able to knit but have since forgotten. A few years ago I went on You Tube and was able to make a scarf. Things like hats or socks?? I just can't figure it out.
Well done my most talented young friend. The internet is wonderful for videos and instruction. My current crochet project has an extended single crochet stitch....never heard of that on but
Gigi Google taught me

I keep trying to relearn how to crochet - it's driving me mad!
oooh, nice work! Your stitches are even, which is half the battle. I like to knit, but my problem is that I like the expensive yarns. Ugh. We have a fiber festival coming at the end of the month and it features all these home-grown yarns...which are BEAUTIFUL, but expensive. I go to look. Keep at it! You are doing awesome!
Too complicated for me. I can't even crochet and they say it's easy.
Have a fabulous day and week, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥
I don't know how to knit either! lol
When I was first married my mother in law tried to teach me to knit. I think she was buried with knitting needles in her hands. Her hands were never idle.
Me ... oh my I couldn't even get the yarn off the needles. I was so nervous and she was a good teacher but me... not a good learner.
I'll bet you do get it all figured out though. You're so creative.
Sue
Good for you trying to knit again. I wasn't very good at it years ago when I tried knitting. Good luck with the pin loom. Sorry you don't have directions.
I've tried the knitting, the crocheting...even sewing...I just can't get the hang of it. You are doing good Ann
What does your pin loom look like? Could you give us a picture? Maybe we can help. ❤️
Check out YouTube for kitting stitches. It is VERY helpful.
Sorry you couldn't figure out the loom.
Ann I learned how to knit when I was a kid but have not done any knitting since then. Tried to learn how to crochet and that was a lost cause. Maybe I will tackle both in my next life (LOL) - Have fun friend. I am sure you will learn quickly. Hugs!
Keep up the "trying" it leads to success!
there are so many videos you can watch on youtube, they help me a lot! i'm not sure if you can work with the yarn the way you have it. they sell the skiens that way but it usually has to be twirled into a ball. if it needs to be balled, at some point you are going to end up with a tangled mess!! i hope i am wrong!! it's a pretty color!!
I tried a few years ago to teach myself to knit and quickly lost patience with it! I haven't tried again. I think I prefer crocheting because there is only one instrument to deal with!
Looks like you've got the hang of this. I never learned how to knit either and I have always envied those who can. Good luck with your pin loom.
Hope you don't give up and instead, able to find a better how to video to help. Do they have a page on YouTube? The ones that make the loom?
