I had nothing to lose

I have 4 plastic resin chairs that I've had forever. They are very sturdy chairs yet I couldn't sit in them because after years of sitting in the sun every time you touched them you came away with green powdery stuff all over you.

I don't knew where I saw it but I came across an idea to use one of these to restore the chairs

I figured I had nothing to lose if it didn't work because these weren't getting used any way. I didn't do the best job on these but all you do is run the torch back and forth across the surface as if you were spray painting

The chair on the left is the after and the one on the right is before I did anything to it. I should have scrubbed all the dirt off better before I did this but I have to say that it made a huge difference. We can actually sit in these chairs again. The second one I did I did a little bit better job on.

Hi Ann...as is my life lately I have again been playing catch up and it's been lovely to read back through some of your posts. However I was heartbroken when I read about Duke. He was so adorable and I really fely that I knew him through your posts. He will never be forgotten and I am glad to see that he is still making his appearance from time to time. xx

wow, would never think of this OR be able to use the torch.. i love fire, but fear it when propane is involved. we have pink ones that were my mothers, we have had them out by the pool for 25 years and she had them on her porch for 3 years. they look like new but now i am thinking it is because they get mildew on them and we put them in the pool for an hour, take them out and sit in sun... if we were not doing that i wonder if they would do what yours did... this is a super idea.

I used a power washer on some chairs like this. It worked. This is a way I would never have thought of. It worked and that's the whole idea.

Have a fabulous day. ♥♥♥

Very interesting. I have a friend who spray paints plastic stuff like this but I don't think hers were powdery.

We have plastic chairs like that, which look pretty weathered. I wonder if I should do something with those as well :)

Some how fire and plastic don't seem like a good combination to me...but since I am DIY/craft ignorant I'll take your word for it...

I would never have thought of a torch! I would've just painted them with that paint for those kinds of chairs. I spot Duke in the photo!

That is great. I would never have thought of doing this.. There's a huge difference. I have an old white lawn chair which needs some 'love'... I might try that.

Hugs,
Betsy
