I'm doing it my way

I've been reading a lot about art journals lately. I find them intriguing and they look like fun. Any way I thought that I would give it a try and do it my way.

There are all kinds of resources out there for how to get started and what to do but by the far the best advice that I read was on one site that said not to follow any rules, just let your imagination run wild and do whatever you want.

I started with a cheap composition book. Eventually I'll decorate the cover of this some how but that will have to wait until I decide what I want to do on it.

The first page was done with just markers.

I'm hoping that this will help jump start my creative thinking when I'm in a slump. Plus I plan on using this to try out different techniques that I read about.

Tomorrow I'll show you two more pages that I have done so far.

Very nice! I have done many similar to this Ann! I think you will enjoy it! Give me a handful of markers and I am happy. Have you ever tried Zentangle? I just love it and find it to be a fabulous creative outlet.

...that's a great idea! Recording your craft work and art. Then, if something turns out fantastically, you have written down just how it was done and can improvise and change a tactic here and there perhaps to change the whole concept.

I like this!!

it is fun to go back over journals, plus you also get added benefit by writing and expanding on your ideas

I've tried, but I just can't get into it. Good luck, and nice start.

You have some craft fairs coming again this year right? I think so. You'll get your mojo on at some point. You always do. Doing it your way is the only way to do anything.

Have a fabulous day. My best to Duke. ♥♥♥

For you folks with artistic talent this seems like a cool idea - I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, and we all know I have no imagination...I envy folks with talent.

I'm not creative and I'm definitely not an 'artist'---but I have journaled for years and years... It's so much fun to go back and read my thoughts from many years ago... GEE--how I have grown and changed through the years...

I do love to write --and these days I combine my journal with another huge interest of mine, my Food Journal. I still keep track of everything I eat --while trying to keep my weight from expanding!!!! So far --so good, but it takes WORK... I still love doing it though.

Good Luck with your Journal.
Hugs,
Betsy

That sounds like a great idea. And a great way to track your creations and writings I think. Great to have a book to kind of doodle away :)

You might have even more fun with an electronic pen and a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator.

I happen to think that doing your art journal your way is pretty smart and pretty!

I like the introduction. I heard about this art journal but had no idea what it is. I'm glad you are making one so I can see what it is.

This is a NEAT idea....and for the record, art should always be done "my way"! (or your way as the case may be!)
