Signs of fall

 It's showing more and more color all the time. It won't be long before it's all gone and we're living in our winter look. 

These aren't the best pictures but they do show some of the fall color

I should have gotten some more when the sun was shining and the colors were really quite spectacular.

Chocolate covered

 Amanda and her friend stopped at one of the Amish stores not far from here. I asked if she got anything and she said she bought some chocolate covered espresso beans and some chocolate covered cranberries. 

Imagine my surprise when she brought me some of each

Both are very good but the chocolate covered cranberries were my favorites.

Monday Monday

 It started out as a good Monday. It was Columbus day and I had the day off which gave me a 3 day weekend. 

Then I ended up breaking my favorite mug. I went to set it on the counter and it was too close to the edge

I had an audiology appointment that day too. I would have preferred to stay in my pajamas all day but my appointment was at 9:30

Thankfully it was quick and then I made a stop at Walmart for a few things I needed then headed back home.

Amazon gift

 I was sitting here the one day and saw an Amazon delivery person walk up to my porch and leave a packages. I figured it was delivered to the wrong address because I hadn't ordered anything. To my surprise it had my name and address on it. This was inside

The box itself was intriguing enough but inside....

Dressing for Halloween

 Amanda's house is all decked out for Halloween. Her and her husband have joined the inflatables craze. She said he added another one since this picture.

A look back

 I went back in my archives to look at what I had for October photos. All of these were taken in 2016. I found a few that were edited so I thought I would share them here. This one was taken next to a auto garage. The trees at the edge of the property were so pretty.

No pics just stuff

 As if the current health issues haven't been enough. I've now added a touch of vertigo to the mix. I woke up at 2am Sunday morning and went to the bathroom. I got incredibly dizzy and things were spinning. I tried to go back to bed but then felt like I was going to throw up. I spent the next hour in the bathroom.

Finally got back to bed and had to lay on my back with a couple pillows. Fell back asleep till 6:30. I spent all day on the couch. I'm ok if I don't move my head real fast or bend over. But I'm so incredibly wore out. 

I'm writing this Sunday night and hoping that I feel better in the morning. I have a loan to close at work and don't know what I'll do if I can't make it. I'm the only one in the office on Monday. 

Right now though I'm going to finish writing my posts for the week and then go back to the couch until it's time to go to bed.

Wildlife

 One Saturday morning I let Gibbs out and sat down with my computer and cup of coffee. He started he usual barking craze which always makes me crazy. I went to the door to bring him in before the neighbors got annoyed. That's when I realized what he was barking at. 

Three deer were running through my back yard. They stopped in the empty lot next to my house and turned around to check us out for a minute. Of course my phone was sitting inside and I knew I wouldn't have time to go get it.

Later that morning I took a picture of the empty lot 

Then I asked AI to put the 3 deer in it for me.

They weren't really that close. They were closer to the road but you get the idea. I was amazed that they were running through town. In all the years I've lived here I have never spotted them in town. 

Men at work

 That's rather questionable because I only saw one of them measure something on the ground which took all of a couple minutes. Then the group stood around for a quite some time talking

The funny thing is that they will talk about how women sit around gabbing but these guys could definitely give any woman a run for her money in the gabbing deptartment

I never did see where they eventually went. Apparently I was actually working while their little gab session ended.

Again with the food

 I told you before that I do food prep on the weekends. My latest was to bake some blueberry pancakes in an 8x8 pan

I used a pancake mix and threw in some blueberries. I can't remember how long I baked it for but I know it took longer than what I had originally set it for. I cut this into 4 pieces. I took one to work and microwaved it for 45 seconds. The other 3 I put into freezer bags for another day. I probably could have cut this into smaller pieces because a 1/4 of this was a lot and I was stuffed by the time I finished it.

A surprise from Amanda

 So I was sitting at home on a weekend evening. I'm trying to think of what I'm going to make myself for dinner. It may be peanut butter and jelly because that's pretty much all I have the ambition for.

Then in walks Amanda and she says she brought me something. 

Chili on the right and homemade apple crisp on the left.

Well the peanut butter and jelly was definitely put on the back burner and this was dinner. I was tempted to eat the apple crisp before the chili but I showed a bit on constraint.

Such a thoughtful daughter. Thanks Amanda.

just stuff

 I'm scraping bottom of the barrel with these but I'm going with them anyway.

This is definitely the time of year for road work. I do the night drop at the bank and then head to I-79 and take that to the I-90 exit. There is construction on both but the work is being done in the evenings and at least the part I travel has any lane closings taken down when I go through.

I-79 is a different story. I get on and it's usually ok. I even can make it to my exit most times without a problem. Some days however, the traffic gets really backed up and even at a stand still.

You can't tell from this picture how many cars are ahead of me but in this one you can see the string of cars behind me in the side view mirror

And on a different note, the sea gulls have been dropping feathers again. 

Yes those are water drops on that feather. We had rain. Can't tell from the picture and it wasn't raining that hard but it was coming down enough that I needed the windshield wipers.

 Well, you're going to have to use your imagination here. I was on my way home one evening and at a light I snapped this picture of the clouds.

What I saw. The bottom part would be some kind of sled and riding it were several dogs

Crash bang smash em up

 The one day I was sitting at work and heard a crash. I looked out the window and saw there had been an accident. This happened about 4:50

I didn't see it but my guess would be that the white vehicle ran into the other

The guy in the dark colored vehicle got out and walked down the sidewalk. He didn't appear to be hurt but definitely looked like he was stunned He's the one in the plaid shirt

The guy in the black shirt ran to assist the woman in the white vehicle. It appeared that he had to struggle to get her out and when he did she looked like she was ready to fall over. I thought to myself that they probably shouldn't have moved her. They did walk her across the sidewalk though.

Almost 10 minutes later the Erie police showed up and it was time for me to leave.

Lunch and jingles.

 The boss was in again and this time we got Reubens for lunch. These sandwiches were huge plus there were fries. I could only eat half and even that was pushing it. The fries barely got touched. I did heat the rest up the next day for lunch. 

Now for the jingle part of today's post. I saw this on Facebook. Maybe I'm old, or maybe I've just watched too much tv but I knew all of them.

Pumpkin spice craze.

 I'm sure you've all noticed the pumpkin spice items popping up all over the place. I do like some things pumpkin flavored but I have to say I think it gets carried a little too far sometimes. 

I was leaving work the one day and saw this sign.

Pumpkin beers? Really? I don't like beer to begin with but I can't imagine that pumpkin beer would be any better.

Gas wars

 I suppose it really isn't a war but there is a huge difference in gas prices between Ohio and Pennsylvania again. I've said it before, if the savings is minimal I will just get it down the road from my house. If it's higher I'll drive the 15 miles to Ohio. I later read that the governor of Ohio has suspended gas taxes for the next 90 days. Looks like I'll be going to Ohio for a while.

Sunday I had to fill up for the week. I took two not so good pictures at each of the places and then asked AI to do a side by side comparison for me.

I couldn't believe it when I checked my app for the Love's price and then drove by Country Fair. That's a whole dollar difference in price. Well I don't have to tell you where I filled up this week.

I was impressed.

 I sometimes have too much fun using AI. One day I was sitting there thinking about how I needed a hair cut. I snapped a quick, very bad selfie.

Then using the texting apps remix feature on my phone, I asked it to give me a flattering hair style and makeup. Why I asked for makeup is beyond me because I never use it. I just don't want to be bothered with it.

Any way, this is the picture it gave me.

I saw the picture and was totally impressed because this is the hair cut I normally get. When I actually went to get my hair cut I told her I had to show her something. She even said, yep, that's the haircut you get. When she was finished she turned me around in the chair to face the mirror and said "see, just like the picture."
