Just another day in paradise

My world now consists of work and puppy watch. To say I'm busy doesn't seem altogether accurate though. From the time I get home from work until I go to bed I spend most of my time sitting around keeping my eye on Gibbs.

Most of my pictures of him are from this angle

Because if I attempt to get down on his level they all turn out looking like this.

Some of you asked for more information about him. I don't recall what I already told you and I'm not going to go back and look because writing a post now takes forever since I have to keep turning around to see where Gibbs is and what he's doing.

Any way, He was born on August 23. He's a Yorkie, King Charles Cavalier mix. We got him from a breeder in Ohio. He's already had his first vet visit and got a clean bill of health. He weighed in at 4 pounds and when full grown should be anywhere from 10 - 18 pounds.
His name came from the show NCIS after the character of the same name. Wade is a big fan of the show and when we were talking about what to name him I suggested Gibbs and it stuck. At first Wade liked it then a couple days later he said he thought it was kind of dumb. I told him I had already told everyone that was his name and that everyone liked the name.

All I can see is that I had totally forgotten what a pain in the butt how much work was involved in training a puppy. I don't get anything done but at least I have a believable excuse.

He stays in a crate at night and he's done pretty well with that. He cries a little when he first goes in but not for long. Most nights he makes it almost all the way through the night without needing to go out. I've had some nights where I've been up as many as three times to let him out. During the day when we're at work we have a little play yard for him in the basement. It confines him to a small space but gives him room to move around and play a little. I'm thinking I may need to start using the play yard more often so that I can start getting something done other than watching him. I'm having crafting withdrawal symptoms and it's making me a bit cranky.

I am so excited about Gibbs, I can hardly stand it. He is adorable and what a perfect mix. Having a play area in the basement sounds so nice. Yes, he will consume all your time if you let him. What a joy! I am so happy for all of you. I hope you are feeling much better.

It is a proven fact that crafting is a leading cause of neglected husband and puppy syndrome. If you can fight it for just five more days, you can beat the addiction and bring great joy into your home. Yes, it will be rough, but just think of all of the extra time you will have for frying bacon instead of pealing excessive glue off of your fingers!

Gibbs is so cute, and I really like the name. My husband and I love that show NCIS too, and we watch it here in the evenings. Im sure Gibbs will get the hang of things soon as he grows. Enjoy your week :-)

He is adorable Ann. Hang in there. When Bentley was a puppy, I used this tip from a book I read(can't remember the name tho)..... Put puppies and even new dogs on a leash while inside - keeps them near you, helps them feel secure & they get used to the leash. I thot it might be too constraining but it worked wonders for us when he was a pup. I put the leash loop thru my belt & after a couple of days we settled into a rhythm & hardly knew it was there. Crafters unite! :)) HugZ, d & Bentley & Nonni

Lots of work with a pup. If he gets in the way send him to me, what a cutie.

Well, he's a cutie pie and I need to remember to put the 's' at the end of his name. As you can see I didn't watch that show.

Have a fabulous day and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Awesome, A great portrait of the little guy!! Oh, those EYES!!! In some ways, a puppy is more work than a baby. Because a baby will stay where you put it!

So his parentage is on purpose - interesting. He is so adorable!

As you know I'm a huge fan of NCIS and tell Wade that Gibbs isn't a dumb name, it's a perfect name. Seriously.

All the puppiness will soon subside and you'll be able to have him in your pool with you by next summer. I'm sure.

Hey? What happened to your profile link when you leave a comment...it takes me to a whole new blog list and your snap and edit scrap isn't linked...takes me nowhere!!

He's such a little cutie! I never trained a puppy before so can't imagine what you're going through - three times in one night - I guess it's like having a newborn? ;-)

I like his name a lot! Love the blurrr! lol When Roxanne was a puppy I put her next to my bed in a laundry basket. It seemed to comfort her since she was close to me and I could touch her. Later I started crate training her, but now she never is crated. Also, I tied a bell on a long piece of yarn to hang on my sliding glass doors handle. Everytime I took her out to potty I would ring the bell. Eventually she would ring the bell when she needed to go out. :) You probably have a plan in place, just trying to help. :)
hugs to you and Gibbs.

Puppies are a lot of work but they don't stay puppies for long. I do get a chuckle from my neighbors though because they just got one and that thing is so fast and doesn't listen to them at all. There is something funny about watching my neighbor chase her puppy through my yard in her jammies. Just think, you too might be providing entertainment for your neighbors!

But as you know, this will all be worth it!

Yep, puppies will run you ragged! But what an adorable looking face. Very photogenic! How about a play pen for him while you are trying to get things done?
