More from my birthday

I got a beautiful bouquet delivered to the house. They were from Presley

I actually took a ton of pictures of the different flowers but I'm only going to post this one.

The day after my birthday, Amanda and I went out to lunch and to Hobby Lobby and the mall.

Lunch was at Cracker Barrel and was really good. I had chicken fried chicken and hash brown casserole.

Would you believe we didn't buy anything in any of the stores we went in. We even walked out of Hobby Lobby with nothing. I did take a couple pictures of things for possible craft ideas.

My final celebration was lunch out with an old friend on Tuesday March 25th. We went to Hanako in Conneaut Ohio

This was the first time I have ever been to a Japanese restaurant and the food was fantastic. I ordered Hibachi chicken and shrimp. It came with rice and onion soup.

And that concludes the month and my birthday celebration.

How I spent my birthday.

Ok so I know that my birthday was over a week ago but I had other things to post about so I'm just getting around to it.

I started is slow and easy with coffee and blogs. Then again, I start every morning like that these days. I decided I was going to go to the mall. The mall on a weekday morning is always nice because there aren't a ton of people.

I went to Bath and Body Works and they had full size body sprays on sale for $5.99 so I figured I would treat myself. Of course the next day everything was 40% off and I apparently also had a birthday coupon for a free item up to $9.99. No problem since Amanda and I were going to be up that way the next day anyway.

I also bought myself a new pair of shoes at The Shoe Dept. and a pair of pants at Boscov's and finally a couple t-shirts at Michaels. I only used 2 credit cards and didn't put much on either one so I didn't overindulge too much. I would say it was...

The mall was all ready for the Easter Bunny to arrive

While I was on my way to the mall I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to go out for a birthday lunch. We met at Mi Scuzi's at the mall

After lunch I headed home and spent a relaxing evening at home. I did a little sewing and watched  a little tv. It was a really nice day.

More craft time and in my back yard

I made another fabric basket. This one is even sturdier than the second one I made. I think it's because of the fabric I used. This one I'm going to use for Presley's Easter basket.

Then I wanted to add a new item into the mix with all the things I've been sewing. I found an svg file for Aldi's quarter holders. I had some faux leather that I had gotten at Dollar Tree a long time ago and never used. It's not the prettiest but at least I found a use for it. I also tried making one using craft foam.

Anyone who shops at Aldi's knows how important it is to have a quarter on hand for the shopping cart. These don't require any sewing. I cut the foam and the faux leather on my Cricut machine and then they are hot glued together.

In other news, they've begun digging out behind my house. It looks like they aren't going to waste any time getting going on this project. The day they did this they only dug a few holes across the property and they haven't done anything else since.

Hanging with Presley

On Tuesday March 18th Presley came to hang out with me while her mom and dad were working. It was so much fun. We started with a selfy

We did all kinds of things. We put out some Easter decorations, we did some crafts, we played teacher and student, had drawing contests, played outside and washed and painted rocks.

It's hard to see but Presley is back by that dead tree just off my property. She was fascinated by all the dead wood laying on the ground. She kept dragging pieces down to the house and then used a hammer to smash it and break it up.

She wanted to wash the rocks so we could paint them. I forgot to get a picture of the ones we painted and she took those home with her.

Here's another weeks worth of drawings.

Crazy weather

The weather has been all over the place. We've had summer like weather with lots of sunshine, we've had snow, frost and rain with temperatures both high and low.

On Sunday 3/16 we had hail. We actually had it on the 20th as well but I didn't take more pictures or video that day.

Craft time

I took a little break from the sewing to do a different craft. I had downloaded a cut file from Nicetocut.com for a spring shadowbox design. I thought this one was really cute.

There were actually supposed to be 4 little white butterflies on this but somehow I managed to lose two of them. Of course there is always the possibility that I dropped them and Gibbs ate them.

Just miscellaneous stuff

A while back when I had gone to Ohio to put an application in at the store where my friend works, I was sitting at a stoplight and snapped a picture of this church.

Wandering around the back yard and I looked at the tree. This made me happy because I know it won't be long before it's covered in leaves again.

One night when I was letting Gibbs out I noticed the moon and decided to try and take a picture or two.

Procreate dump part 2

Today is the rest of the Procreate art I've done recently.

First up I was playing around try to do bubble letters. I'm not sure if I succeeded and I considered just deleting this but then decided to keep it and share here.

This is another one that I almost deleted. I was just playing around and didn't much care for it but saved it anyway.

This is one that I saw somewhere else and wanted to copy it.

This last one I did after I saw a video of someone painting a feather. They started by making a line then adding different colored circles down the line. They then took a q-tip and smeared the color out creating the feathery look. I wanted to see if I could do that in procreate. Mine might not be exactly how theirs was but I liked the way it looked.

Procreate dump part 1

I have quite a few so I'm breaking this down into 2 parts.

This one was just playing around after watching an Art with Flo video. I think she called this lava

This one I may have been copying a picture I saw somewhere.

This one I copied a picture I had drawn in my sketch books.

This one I did after Sandra and I had an email conversation about doing letters.

Not sure where the idea for this one came from.

A crafting project of a different kind

I saw this idea on Facebook and actually posted it on Pam's wall because she has made jewelry holders in the past and I thought this was a pretty cool idea.

Because I don't have an actual jewelry box and rely on several various containers to hold what I have I thought I would give it a try.

All you need are a Dollar tree paper towel holder

Fabric of your choice and a pool noodle. I chose this blue velvety type fabric that I found at Dollar Tree. One fat quarter is plenty to do this project.

You cut two pieces off the pool noodle. I think I cut them to 12". Then you are going to cover the noodles pieces with the fabric securing it with hot glue. Then you cute slits in the pool noodle to slide it down the paper towel holder. And then you have a handy dandy piece to hand your necklaces from.

The video I watched glued the fabric over the ends of the pool noodle but I found it easier and cleaner looking to tuck the excess fabric in the hole one each end of the noodle.
