I got home from work the one day and before going in the house I sat down on the front porch while I looked at something on my phone. Then I noticed the dead bug sitting on the sidewalk
Next I noticed something growing inside the cement block that I never put away. I looked this up and it said it was a Virginia Creeper.
Then I looked a little further and saw the hydrangea. They are looking very faded but I think it gives them a bit of a vintage look

Beauties and the beasts!
Hurray for taking time to notice things! And to share them. :)
The faded hydrangeas are still beautiful. The bug not so much lol
I love hydrangeas at all stages. They have such beautiful forms.
Good for you taking the time to look around. Even faded, hydrangeas are beautiful.
I blogged today about a possum that has passed away in my yard. It must be the season for such things? I hope your little flying critter enjoyed his summer. It looks like your hydrangea did, for sure. Love, Andrea xoxo
I think the dead bug is a cicada..I'm seeing lots of them here too.
Never seen a Virginia Creeper...ironically on vacation we were very near the Virginia Creeper train tracks
Hugs Cecilia
It's the little things all around us isn't it? Lots of beauty surrounding you Ann and then there was the Cicada. Those things scare me even when they are no longer able to move..
I hope you deaded the creeper, it is the bane of my existence right now and will grow and over a house if left alone. my neighbor has it all over her roof and in the tree and hanging from the eaves. be careful, it can cause a rash
Thing grow where they grow. Amazing sometimes.
Have a fabulous day and week, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥
Amazing the special things one spots when they take the time to really look. Those hydrangeas are so lovely - even when they fade they take on a soft color. Hugs!
Those are some interesting finds. Are you going to let the Virginia Creeper keep growing? The hydrangea look pretty.
Noticing the little things makes life rich and interesting. Those hydrangeas are still quite elegant. :)
The cicada has an iridescent back and wings...you just have to look past that it is a big bug. They are actually really beautiful and I think you can enjoy it's beauty if it isn't flying towards you! There are so many lovely things to look at...just by sitting still. I like that you found a bunch today!
You never know what you'll see if you take the time to look. :)
Lovely photos, Ann. That's a big bug.
Amazing what we see when we just take the time to look.
I agree that the hydrangeas have a vintage look!
A lot of interesting things going on in your garden :)
