The Homeless guy

I call him homeless but I don't really know for sure. I posted about him before. The one day he came to visit our garbage can and I snapped his picture. I can see out but he can't see in.

So he's been pushing around a shopping cart some days now as well. Can't remember if he had it with him that day. He did bring a mini garbage can with him though. He ended up leaving it next to the garbage can.

I watched as he pulled different food items out of it. He would pull them out of their cellophane wrappers and then crumble them into the little trash can. He also broke up an orange and squeezed it into the mix. Then he mixed it all up with his hands. Then he had a little snack. It appeared that there was shredded lettuce in there as well.

He never did come back for the mini trash can and the maintenance company that comes every day to keep everything looking nice and tidy threw it into the big garbage can.

this brought tears to my eyes, I worked for 2 years with the homeless ministry at our church and what an eye opener it was. Most people think they are all alcholics, drug addicts, useless people when the truth is most are people that their income is low and they can't afford rent. the stories then broke my heart and this man has a crutch. all it takes to lose your home whether rent or own, is losing a job, an illness that wipes our your money. we have families with small children that one of the parents lost their job and they were evicted.
we usually had about 30 show up for showers and a meal and clean clothes and out of the 30 there were only 3 or 4 with drugs/alcohol problems.

Oh, how sad.
Some people are more loving to animals than to humans.
I think I'd bring him a coffee and a roll.

It's so sad to think of someone not having a home to go to.

Some people have desperately sad and lonely lives. Life must be incredibly hard in extremes of heat or cold.'There. but for the grace of God . . .

I cannot imagine having to exist like this. I send lots of prayers that he has a warm shelter for the winter.

How very sad. All of us deserve a roof over our heads and enough to eat.

Are you saying he crunched up all his food - put it in the trash can and then ate it? Then left his trash can? Wow. :(

This is so sad. Homelessness is such a crisis.
I wonder if you will see him again.

Oh my gosh, poor guy!!! There are people all around here, holding up signs by the roads. Phil will stop and give them some money when he gets a chance to stop by them at a light.

Very sad. :( Here in Montreal and almost everywhere in the world, there are so many homeless individuals. Giving them food is really the best thing and I only say this because some will use money for alcohol, tobacco or drugs. They need to eat. It is okay to give money to some if you know for sure they will put it to good use to feed themselves.

So sad. A big problem with no easy solution.

This is truly sad but we just never know if something like this comes from choice or from the person actually not having food to eat. There are so many places these days that feeds those who do not have homes or food to eat, so I honestly can not understand why someone would take food from the garbage.. so sad

I noticed the crutch, too. If you can't work and lose your job...that's all it would take.

That is so sad. I remember at one of my jobs we used to see a homeless guy eating out of the dumpster every day.

Hope he finds a place to crash before winter.
