Tuesday April 21st was CT scan day. I had to be at the hospital at 7:00 and my appointment was at 8:00. Surprisingly I got in and out pretty quick. I wanted to take pictures while I was in the hospital but never got around to it. The best I could do was snapping a couple in the parking garage before I left.
A few days later I got an email that the results were in my patient portal. I read the whole thing but didn't understand most of it. I got the fact that they detected a blockage and recommended an angiogram.
Saturday 4/25 around 8:00 pm the cardiologist himself gave me a call. He explained the results, said they found a blockage and the next step would be a cathetarization. I agreed to go ahead and he told me he needed me to do a few things first to satisfy the insurance and that the hospital would be calling to set things up for me.
I quickly jotted down (and quite messily I might add) the medications he wanted me to take. He's supposed to be calling in the prescription ones for me.
So now on to the next step. Hopefully by the time this publishes I'll have an appointment time set up. Now to figure out how I'll get there since I can't drive myself and what to do with Gibbs if I have to stay overnight.

You may not be able to drive home either. At least Phil could not. They put a big hard board on your arm from the elbow to wrist This is so you don't move your arm because they went in through an artery and it cannot bleed again. Unless they do it through a different one than your hand.
P.S. You only have to wear the board for about 24 hours. Forgot to say that.
Sorry to hear they did find a blockage but at least they found it before it caused a major issue. A cath is the one heart test my husband hasn't had to go through so I can't really give advice on that one. Big hugs to you.
The procedure itself takes around 30 min, but you need to take it easy after. I do hope you can go home after. ((hugs))
Nice handwriting! I hope you can sort out your arrangements - can't expect Gibbs to drive you there or look after himself.
Getting this done is a good thing. I know when this is over you're feel far better.
Have a fabulous day and week, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to handsome Gibbs. ♥
Good they caught it early.
Checking in late Ann. I wish I could be there to help you and Gibbs.
Sending lots of prayers this goes well and you find someone to drive you and care for Gibbs.
Keep us posted
Hugs Cecilia
If I was in your area I would be happy to help you out. I do hope you can find someone to drive and take care of Gibbs.
Better to get that blockage taken care of before it becomes major. So glad you got to talk to the doctor directly and hopefully you have an appointment setup.
Prayers
Sue
Maybe your daughter or son could take the day off?
Rick had that - he couldn't drive but did not have to spend the night. And did not have to wear a board for 24 hours - it was three.
Those medicines seem right - they are keeping your blood thin as to not get a clot.
It is a good thing they found it.
So sorry Ann, but it is definitely best to get this taken care of.. I have had two caths and received a stent each time. I too went to my cardiologist a few weeks ago and it looks like I will be having another cath done soon. My doctor is very proactive when it comes to women and heart issues. Wishing the best for you and prayers are definitely going up for you.
It is a good thing they caught it early.
Seems like a lit of people in know are having this, and so far only one had an actual blockage. I guess they can't tell for sure with the scan? I hope yours goes smoothly, Ann. Wish I lived closer and could help you out.
It sounds as if it's a safe procedure. Fingers crossed on the ride problem. That is a big one for us too. ❤️
Sorry they found a problem but at least it can be corrected. Will be praying!!
Glad they found it. I hope you can find family or a friend to take you and care for Gibbs. It's so hard to have a procedure and still have to figure out care for yourself. I'm sorry. Just a lot to process, I'm sure. Let's get this fixed and get your on your way!
i hope by now you have worked things out and found a sitter for gibbs. good luck with everything!!
My comment is the same as Debbie’s.
Ann just catching up with your posts. Will be praying for you. I can imagine being concerned on many fronts...driving, Gibbs and just going through the procedure. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs Debbie
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry about the blockage. Hopefully you will figure out someone, hopefully your daughter, who can take you and maybe stay at your house with Gibbs. Keep us posted.
