Do you want to see what I've been working on lately? Too bad, I'm showing you anyway. You may recall the quilled necklaces I showed you before. I enjoyed doing those but came up with a new idea. Instead of doing the whole thing paper I decided to use a wood disc and glue the quilling to that.
Here's a picture of one of the older ones and the latest.
The first time I showed you the purple one it wasn't on a chain. Now I've put that one on a silver chain. The round one that I did before I put on a black cord and that one went to my friend Debbie.
I don't know about you but I like the idea of the wood disc a whole lot better. My biggest problem is I'm not real good at the jewelery part of it. I had no problem attaching the jump rings and the clasp to the chain. My original plan was to just put a ring in the wood disc for the chain. Blan B went in to effect when I discovered that the hole was drilled too far away from the edge to do that. My problem came in when I had to wire the wood bead to the disc. I made that first little loop in the piece of wire, slid the wire through the bead then through the hole in the disc. Now to wrap the wire under the bead to hold it in place. I realized how uncoordinated I can be some times when I was doing this.
This final picture is the one I'm working on now. The beak does seem to be a little out of proportion but it's staying since it's already glued on.
The rest of the night I'm going to spend catching up on my emails, working on my necklace and a few little odds and ends that need taken care of. I'll catch up on all of your blogs tomorrow.

These are so pretty and you are full of good ideas..keep going and creating! :D
Ann - you work is work of beauty and delicacy - I don't know how in the world you can get the paper to curve and it be so small. Looks beautiful!
I love those necklaces! The wood disc is a great idea too. I like the bird. If it had a red head it'd look like a KU Jayhawk!
The little bird is adorable! I love it. It's going to make a great necklace!
These are adorable, amazing, beautiful, words can't say enough!! Unique!! If you were selling, I would buy. You could sell these for a whole lot of money!! I have never in my life seen anything like them!!! I love ALL the things you make, I'm remembering too, those little quilled pictures of the seasons, sensational!
They are very pretty. Is Duke helping you? I hope so since he's such a good boy. Just have fun.
I didn't tag Duke for the meme because it was long and I thought you were too busy. If that's not the case then let me know. You know my Duke is one of my favorites of all time.
Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)
What a coincident! I made a quill necklace and used the wood dish to hold the quill pendent. Love your design!
Very pretty and intricate!
Well you know me ...Just love these. And yes, you should definitely be selling them...Sweet little bird!
Oh my gosh ~ I am always amazed at the detailed work you do Ann. Beautiful!

Lovely necklaces! The detail is wonderful!
I love love love the flower on the wood disc Ann. It is gorgeous!
If you replaced the wooden back with a Ritz cracker, and the quilling stuff with cheese whiz, I would be a big fan.
Ooh they are absolutely gorgeous. I love the bird pendant so much!
They both look good. I think you are right however about the wooden disc.
Have a good weekend.
They are beautiful, Ann! As I said before...you should really join Etsy :)
i like the wood one best, but they are all beautiful, i still think you can sell these, wear one to work or take one and tell them you are selling them. bet they will sell.
They are all beautiful! I like the wooden disc too. If I was wearing it I would worry about messing up the other one.
Looks to me like you've got the jewelry making part down pat.
Great Job!
Those are beautiful! I love the intricacy of the paper work and the wood sets that off. So pretty.

they are adorable Ann. I agree...I like the ones on the wood disk {especially the little birdie}
Nice idea; the wood gives such a good, firm base for the quilling.
They look nice on wood! It's good idea for this summer!
