Pears

We have a pear tree in the back yard. We hate the pear tree in the back  yard but yet it still stands.

The pears are small and taste terrible. All they do is fall to the ground and you either have to pick them all up or mow over them and walk through mushy pear goop.

Wade keeps threatening to cut it down and I keep tell him to go right ahead. Maybe I'll have to go out there with an ax one of these days and see what he says

The only thing this tree is good for is the pretty blossoms in the spring.

Even the squirrels won't eat them?

And also good for these pretty pictures, so that makes two blog posts a year!!

Hmmm... Maybe you need to ask for it as a present? We have an apple tree that only produces 5 apples and those are eaten by the animals... just last weekend we had 2 deer munching on the last of them...
Have a great weekend!

The pears look pretty good to me :)
I would've thought that the birds or other animals would eat them!

We have a pup that stands on her hind legs to nibble pears from the trees. I will send Izzy right over. LOL

Hmmmmm, they don't taste good? You wonder why? I'd chop it down and plant a cherry tree. They too have beautiful blossoms. ;o)

I wonder who planted a pear tree with such horrible fruit.
I have had some of this type of pear and there's really nothing you can do with them.
Cut it down. lol

You need to find some goats or something that would enjoy eating those pears. But I know what you mean by the mess they make. Have a great week end.

they make great photos and post fodder... what happenes if you peel and cook them with sugar and cinnamon? our friends had pears we could not just eat but they were good cooking pears

Some trees are just awful. Our neighbor has a couple I would love to see disappear.

Have a terrific weekend. My best to Duke. :)

Hi Ann, it's been a while and what's the first thing I see but pears!! I think maybe you should try giving the pear tree a good pruning and then see what it's like next year before you decide to cut it down all together!! I am hoping that now life is calming down and getting back to routine that I can get back to my regular blogs and posting again. Take care. xx

I didn't realize that some pear trees grow nasty pears. That's quite a waste of a tree!

What a pity they don't taste good. I'd love to have a fruit tree like we did when I was growing up.

If you hold them for awhile do they sweeten up?

How do they taste bad? They look like seckel pears

I feel the same way about our two apple trees. Although they taste good, the birds get at them before we can and we just end up having to pick the rotten ones up off the ground. :(

They are great for pear pies though! Tart like apple! My sister puts a bunch up just for pie!

It's been a while since you made mention of Wade. Of course, I may have just not been paying attention.

Well, they at least provide subject matter for a pretty picture!
