Years ago I had a swing. It had two padded seats with an arm rest in the center. After years of sitting in the sun the fabric was less than attractive and would fall apart just by touching it. The swing ended up in the trash but we kept the frame that it was hung on.
I've been wanting to buy a new swing for some time now but this time I wanted a wood one. It would be more durable and I could always add cushions for a little more comfort.
A couple weeks ago one of Wade's friends gave us an old wood swing. He had it in his shed and wanted to get rid of it and we were willing to help him out.
It can use a coat of paint and definitely some cushions but otherwise it's in pretty good shape. I'll be swinging again in no time.

For sure you can make a good pretty cushion. Happy Wednesday
What a great gift! Wonder why he didn't want it anymore. I actually like the print of the cushions very much. Blue for the sky and green for the grass. But maybe something more modern would be better.
That's cool! I've always wanted one of those :)
Recycling is always a good thing! Cushions will be easy for you Ann!
Ha Ha Ann...I envy you.We have a small swing at home-- hubby made it [ finally managed to convince him to start some hobby!!]
That is great! I always think if you have patience eventually what you want will turn up x
I love to swing, ours is just like yours, the fabric is in strings, we can still sit on it but it is not comfy... it has a great thing to hang a new one on, but the new wooden ones cost more than the type we have, metal... i would love to find one like this. Bob could build one but you know how that goes...
That looks like another major project for a crafty mind.
So, one time it was naked in the grocer's aisle, now you're telling us you're a swinger?
My goodness...what next?
[in all seriousness, LOVE it]
Spent a lot of time on one of these, nice to have
How fun. I love a good swing myself. Way to score something you wanted in the first place and it's free.
Have a fabulous hump day. My best to Duke. ☺
I love those things. I'm sure with your creativity you will have that spiffed up in no time!
Oh, I Love an old swing! Mom had one and that's always the first place we' head for!
hughugs
Wow--you all hit the jackpot with that swing, didn't you? I wouldn't paint it if it were me.. I like the natural look --so maybe I'd just stain it. (Once you paint it, you'll have to paint it over and over...)
Hugs,
Betsy
That's a nice swing! There's room for you and Wade AND Duke! Enjoy!
Very nice swing. You are so lucky to have room for it, a nice big yard and good weather :) Enjoy it!!!
If anyone can dress up that swing, it's you! I can't wait to see the pictures when you're done.
Now that looks like fun!
ooooh, Lucky you!! I always wanted a front porch swing. And a front porch. :)
I love to swing! So glad Wade's friend gave you this swing and didn't throw it out. I can't stand seeing good items in a trash pile.
Nothing better than a bit of swing time in the evening just as the sun is going down.
That's a great freebie! Hope you find plenty of time to enjoy it!!
