Decked

I seem to be getting very good at telling you about things and then never following up with pictures. How long ago was it that I told you about getting a new deck put on the house?  It really isn't finished yet, we're still waiting for the second set of steps to go on but before that can happen we have to have the cement poured for the patio section. Trying to get someone here to pour a cement slab has been like pulling teeth.

Any way, I've got a couple pictures, taken at two different times of day
When they built this I said I didn't really care too much about details but the only thing I insisted on was that we had to have gates on the steps to keep Duke in. The guy who built it said that they had gone back and forth trying to decide how to do the gate and they finally opted for what you see here. I wasn't sure about them at the time but now that they've been there a while I really do like it. There is also one in front of the pool so Mr Duke can't swim unless we tell him he can swim.

This is a bit smaller than the old deck but it's still plenty big enough for us. Pay no attention to the filthy pool. It hasn't been a good year for swimming and an even worse year for pool maintenance.

Hopefully all will be completed soon. They were here Monday some time to set up their forms but then the rains came. No if we can get it to stop raining they'll be able to come back and pour the cement.

Your deck is looking lovely. I fully understand about jobs not finished - kitchen twelve years, bathroom thirteen, to name just two. It's a good job that I am patient.Take care Ann x

Rain? Lucky you.

Your deck turned out great! We've had a lot of rain here and it has kept things cool, love it. :)

Ann, you have my permission to send the rain here. We sure could use it. We didn't get our usual spring rains, so it's been so long that I'm not sure what rain even looks like:) Your deck turned out wonderful, I'm sure that you are enjoying it. Looks like a great place to kick back and relax :)

Poor Duke wants that pool whenever he feels the urge. I he a small one my dogs leave alone unless I am in it.

WOW! That sure turned out nice. Too bad it's been a bad year for the pool. :(

While I love the deck, I think his gate solution isn't that great. Couldn't he have built a door on a hinge that matched the rest of the deck. Looks like he took a major short-cut on that one. Hope you didn't pay too much for that.

Hope your project gets completed soon. It drives me crazy to have projects not completed! Ugh.

Happy New Deck! :)

Your deck looks really nice! Hope they can finish the patio soon. I guess I'm anti-social because I'm thinking I wouldn't fit in very well in that neighborhood with all those nekkid (without fences) yards! I don't like seeing my neighbors or having them see me!

Huge deck - looks sturdy. I agree with Lin about the gates...that doesn't look sturdy. Since your property isn't fenced do you get uninvited guests in your pool? Human or otherwise?

I love your new deck. Yes I do. There's nothing like a nice place to sit when the weather permits.

Have a fabulous day. My best to Duke. ♥♥♥

Love your deck, Ann, and I'd love that pool IF we had a 'pool maintenance person' to keep it clean. They are ALOT of work for sure....

Hope you can enjoy your deck this Fall --once it starts to get cooler!!!!! I'd love to get me a good book and go out there to read....

Hugs,
Betsy

It looks great! I can see lots of morning cups of tea there as well as some evening glasses of wine or herbal tea.
