Trying something new

As if I don't have enough craft obsessions already, I had to add a new one that I wanted to try. I don't know what I saw or where but something sparked an interest in learning wood burning. I've been debating on whether or not to spend the money for the tool to do it. I finally broke down and bought one.
I found some scrap wood in the basement and gave it a try.

It's a little messy because I tried all the tips that came with the tool to see what they would do. I colored those leaves and holly berries in with a colored pencil.

This was the second try and although the writing is a little on the rough side I thought it was kind of cute so I added a hanger to it.

I need to find some more scrap wood to practice on.

I am impressed, you have a talent for this! I like the first one much better, your first try. To me, it is more bold and colorful. May the scraps be with you...

I've seen a demonstration of this technique but never tried it myself! That Holly Jolly sign is very cute :)

Anything that takes time away from frying (and eating) bacon is a waste of time! Sorry.

I used to have a wood burning tool as a kid. Now I have one as a grown up. Still lots of fun! :)

ditto what Ginny said, i am impressed. i can't write on a piece of paper or write with the drawing tool in PicMonkey and Photo shop, so imagine what my writing would look like.

Wood burning sets were quite the fad some 60 years ago - my brother had one, he had some skill in the drawing department and I think he did a very finely drawn sailing ship with masts ans stuff.

I think this will be craft you will be good at...I have a little sign like those that says "So this isn't home sweet home, Adjust"

Hi Ann, it is always fun to try new things . . . this looks fun! I have one of those put away somewhere. I hope that I didn't garage sale it, because you have inspired me to find it. Last spring when we moved I got to a point where I was tossing out everything. Moving is so hard, LOL
Have a great day and thanks for sharing your signs . . .I have always love the cabin feel that wood burning has.

That's something I could never do because writing with just a pen is super messy let alone one of those! Bet you're going to have fun with it though!

Just another string to add to your crafting bow! They look really great! They would sell well at craft shows.

They are lovely Ann, really like the addition of the coloured pencil! You can never learn too many crafts in my opinion, I've never tried wood burning but see I may have to give it a try too :O)
