On Tuesday, my daughter Amanda was at my house while I was at work. She sent me a text saying that FedEx had delivered a package addressed to me and she also sent a picture of the package. I was totally clueless as to what it could be since I hadn't ordered anything recently and the return address on the package didn't sound familiar to me.
What a treat when I got home and opened the box. Well a treat but not for me and not just one.
Inside were 4 packages of Vera premium dog treats. There were the two flavors you see in the picture and also chicken fillets and sausage links.
Gibbs has only tried the chicken fillets so far and he absolutely loves them.
After opening the box I did recall winning these a while back but I don't remember from where. I'm thinking it may have been on Jean's blog bichonpawz If I'm wrong about that please feel free to correct me. Gibbs says these are a suitable substitute for the cheezits. Oh and by the way, he did not eat those. He has this crazy fascination with paper/cardboard and he loves to tear it to shreds. I admit that allowing him to do so is not teaching him proper behavior but sometimes you just gotta bend the rules and have some fun

Time to shop
Cuz we need more Cheezits
After the first of the months when I'm at the beginning of a new billing cycle with my internet I'll catch you up on all the index cards you've missed. In the mean time Gibbs wants to know if any of you can spare some Cheezits

Stuck
I didn't bother posting yesterday because I was too tired the other night to get a post ready. I ended up falling asleep on the couch then going to bed early.
I considered skipping a post again because I just don't know what to blog about.
So here it is, a post about nothing. No pictures, just words, and boring ones at that. I'm thinking maybe I should just take a week off until we get to the first of the month but I would miss it all too much.

Keeping it simple
Until we get to the first of the month, I'll be keeping my posts extra simple and not doing much with pictures. Silly me, since I was concerned about using up too much data, I took my latest set of index cards to work with me on Sunday and forgot to scan them first. I do have one more left that has already been scanned though so that's what you get today.

What is sarcasm
Update on our internet issues. Wade talked to dish yesterday again. This time he spoke with someone who spoke fluent english and was easy to understand. He was told that so long as we have our network passworded there is no way that anyone could be skimming data but that there was definitely something that was draining it. He suggested turning off our modem when we weren't on the computer. He also gave us 3 gigs free to hold us over until the first of next month. The guy he talked to the other day sold him 2 gigs for $20 which were drained within a day. I really hate technology sometimes. I don't understand it enough to know what's going on and it's very frustrating. Oh well, I know how to make index cards though :)

Repost from the beginning
This is a repost from January 22 2009. This was the very early day of my blog. I had only been blogging for about 3 months. This post had 3 page views and 1 comment. I'm pretty sure that the page counter I mention was taken down shortly after this post
LOL, I just added a counter to my blog the other day. I can't even remember where I found it, but anyway, I thought it would be nice to see how many people actually pass through here. Right now my counter reads "10" I feel so pitiful.

Aside from that, I bought a new program that I have been looking at forever. About a year ago I found Dazzling Reflections at http://www.poppyhilldesigns.com/ I downloaded their free trial and I was totally fascinated with it. Finally, last week I broke down and bought the program and just got it the other day. It is so much fun. The program makes it so easy to create kaleidoscopes from your own pictures. I've been doing a lot of playing and will be putting together some fun stuff for you soon. Here's just a tiny little sample of what I've done.

Not much
Other than to whine about my internet woes which I'm getting rather bored with, I have nothing to talk about.
I feel rather bad that I'm not able to visit any of you and I miss seeing what you're all up to. Is it February yet?
What I don't understand is why I'm still able to upload a picture and publish a post but can't bring up my email or your posts. I'm pretty sure that if I tried to understand it I would only end up frying my brain.
Here's the index card for the day.

Frustration is setting in.
I'll admit that it's kind of nice unplugging from the internet and kicking back on the couch like we used to do back in the day. Before I get there though I have to make an attempt at trying to read your blogs and answer emails. That's when the frustration starts. Getting pages to load is excruciatingly slow so I thought well I'll just read the blogs in my feedly reader and pass on comments. Feedly said it couldn't load because it was blocked. Well that's funny because it wasn't blocked yesterday. I finally got it to work and I could read your posts but I couldn't see any pictures.
Plan B just move on to email and answer those. Nope, my email wouldn't load. Plan C was answer emails on my phone. Nope, my phone decided that if the computer wasn't going to cooperate than it wasn't going to either.
Yesterday Steve mentioned good old dial up back in the day. I remember that. Sitting forever trying to connect. OY!!! Sandra asked about the phone vs the computer. We have Verizon for the phone and Dish internet for the computer so they are two separate things. Grace asked if we had cable service available. Yes we do and that may be something we'll look into. Wade mentioned it tonight.
Ok so lets try to go with a picture.

I'll try but can't promise anything
Apparently, we have used all our data for the month. I don't know how but that's what it says. So we have had very slow access and today it's iffy at best. I tried to answer some emails and it just stopped connecting to anything.
My presence here for the remainder of January is questionable. So if you don't see me here and I don't answer emails blame it on dish.
I won't attempt more than one picture for today so here goes (crossing fingers hoping picture will upload)
Unfortunately I may end up being a miserable cow if I'm cut off from the internet for too long. How did I ever survive all those years before it existed?

Let it snow
And snow it did.
Oh the weather outside was frightful
Oh the weather outside was frightful
but my craft room was so delightful
I had no place to go
But dang enough with the snow!!!!
Apparently this week we are making up for the snow that missed us last week. I was out driving in it and let me tell you, it wasn't fun.

Rambling
Well my day off certainly went by way too fast. We went out and did some grocery shopping in the morning and then I came home and did a little cleaning and a little playing in the craft room. I couldn't really focus on anything crafty though so not much was accomplished there.
I did finally put away some Christmas decorations that have been sitting in a chair in the living room waiting to be moved to the crawl space. I got tired of seeing them sit there.
I've been trying to decide what my craft project for the month is going to be. We're already half way through January and I still haven't even come up with a project. Taking that month off for December kind of stalled my mojo.
It off to work for me this morning so here's another index card

Hold your applause till the end please.
The other day I turned on the printer. I was standing there waiting for it to connect to the PC and didn't realize it already had. I accidentally hit the scan button so it started the scan process and I couldn't stop it. Since there was nothing there for it to scan I picked up the lid and placed my hand on screen just to see what I would get.
Here is my hand scanned motivational poster just for all of you. My tried and true, loyal few blog pals.

A little of this and a little of that
Bloggers come and bloggers go. There are some I know of that quit the blog and post only on facebook. One in particular I haven't heard from in a long time even though she used to comment here every day. I just figured she quit reading and commenting on blogs too. At least I thought that until I started seeing her comments on other blogs. I hope it wasn't something I said but if it was I suppose that's ok too. Not everyone has to like what I post. At least there's still about 7 of you who I haven't offended in some way.
Any guesses on how many of the index cards I've done so far?
Counting this one...
I have done...
110
I enjoy doing these because they're small and quick.

Snow problem
Maybe it's snow problem for you but all the snow that's falling sure is a problem for me. As I'm typing this to schedule for Wednesday morning I'm hearing the wind howling outside my window. They've talked about up to a foot of snow over night.
If I suddenly disappear please send out search and rescue. You might want to send one of those St. Bernards with the barrel of brandy around his neck. After some searching I discovered that the dogs never did actually carry a barrel. Supposedly there was a painting where a dog had the barrel around his neck and I assume the story just grew from there. Want to know more, read here
So on to the card of the day. This one is pretty blurry. The one sticker is raised from the card so my scanner got a blurry image.

Monkey business
What kind of a key opens a banana?
(A monkey!)
Today's card
What do you call a monkey with a banana in each ear?
(Anything you want, it can't hear you!)
Where should a monkey go when he loses his tail?
(To a retailer!)
Same card after a little editing
Last one (I promise)
Why don't monkeys play cards in the jungle?
(There are too many cheetahs there!)

Snow what
You guessed it, we're getting snow.
Sunday morning when I left for work it was raining and by the time I went home there was snow on the ground and it was windy and cold.
I hope that wind doesn't get too bad because I only have one storm door left after the last big wind we had.
I think I shall stay inside and curl up under a blanket today

If the fleece fits wear it
One of my Christmas gifts from my daughter was a fleece pullover. When I opened it I tried it on over a bulky shirt and it was kind of on the tight side. I assumed it would have to be returned. It sat there and it sat there. I finally decided to try it on again, without the bulky shirt on underneath.
It fit so I sent this picture to Amanda to tell her it did fit after all
Looking at the picture I didn't like seeing how much weight I've gained so I thought I can trim that waistline in photoshop.
OK so I have kind of an alien shaped head but I look a whole lot skinnier and without having to diet.
a little bit more playing around and now I think I look even more like an alien.

I'm tired of brown
It's going to be such a long wait for spring and I'm already tired of seeing the color brown. The sky has been gray and cloudy so I don't even get to see the blues.
So I said to myself suck it up buttercup
If there isn't any color in your life then go out and find some.
If you can't find any than make your own
Today's post is an archive dive. Or you could say I dug up some flowers just for you my friends.

Decisions, decisions
Sometimes it's just so hard to make up my mind
I sort of cheated on this card. I painted the background with the tan colored paint. Smeared on some white paint, dabbed a sponge in black paint and tapped it around the card. Then I glued on a picture that I found online. Cheat or not it worked for me.
Happy Friday everyoe

If it weren't for index cards...
...I wouldn't have anything to post.
I think I'm in a rut. Work, home, go to sleep and repeat. I suppose I could tell you about the cleaning I did but that would be as much fun as chasing the dust bunnies out from underneath the furniture. I'm in a crafting slump too so I don't even have any new projects to show you.

Yikes Stripes
Fruit Stripe Gum
Every time I say the word Yikes it makes me think of that saying from the old time commercial. But now looking at the packaging I see it Yipes with a P not a K. Dang I've been saying it wrong all this time.

Again with the fruit. I guess I'm a bit on the fruity side today.

The tale of the leaping lizard
Before I get to my story I want to thank you all for your kind and caring words yesterday. You are all a great comfort to me and I don't know what I would do without you.
OK, so the tale of the leaping lizard begins when a little green lizard appeared in my stocking at work. He's kind of on the sticky side so he stuck to my work table and kept me company while I went about my day.
He even talked to me and I would tell you what that last word stands for but it's kind of bad and I vowed not to say that word on the blog.
Last Tuesday I got to work and he was missing. I promptly posted a sign and offered a reward for his capture and return. You'll notice the sign has FOUND written over top of it so you know already the story has a happy ending.
Later in the day I was doing my breakout which entails dragging a big cart full of frozen bakery products out of the freezer and going through said boxes to pull the items I'll be baking the next day.
When I got a couple boxes down on one pile there was my poor lizard doubled over and frozen. I thawed him out reshaped his deformed spine and gave him a nice little clear tape blanket to keep him in his spot.
Then I immediately posted a wanted sign for the person responsible
Oh and yes I do actually do some work during the day too. Considering I only have a leaping lizard to talk to I get plenty of time to do real work.

Happy New Year
I'm starting the New Year off with a borrowed picture and borrowed words.
A Brighter, Better New Year
Happy, Happy New Year!
We wish you all the best,
Great work to reach your fondest goals,
And when you’re done, sweet rest.
We wish you all the best,
Great work to reach your fondest goals,
And when you’re done, sweet rest.
We hope for your fulfillment,
Contentment, peace and more,
A brighter, better new year than
You’ve ever had before.
Contentment, peace and more,
A brighter, better new year than
You’ve ever had before.
