A bit of a rant

I was going to do another before and after picture for today's post but I needed to throw in a rant first.

When I got to work Thursday morning, this was sitting on my table.

I make these cakes that are a 1/4 sheet cake cut in thirds. A nice size for 2 or three people. I do different flavors  and obviously this one was strawberry. It's not totally damaged just the icing is smeared all over the top of the lid. I did transfer it to a clean container and put it back out.

Even though I didn't have to throw it away the point her is, why was that mother or father not paying attention to that kid. My first thought was that the small mother needs to pay for the item that her kid damaged. Seriously people need to pay attention to what their kids are doing. To make this whole thing worse, when I talked to the girl who left me the note she said she didn't even see an adult around. She heard the cake drop on the floor and when she looked out she saw the boy running away. REALLY, do people think that a grocery store is a great big giant play ground for their unruly children? My manager said that he wants to put leashes by the front door for people to put on their kids. What happened to the good old days when the policy was "you break it, you bought it"?

WELL, here is what I think. They should have not even asked you to fix it! It is not your job to repair damages that customers made! They should either put it on sale or throw it away. They had some nerve...

Ha ha.... like that note.
The policy of "you break it, you bought it" still exists. Only thing is the floor manager has the discretion to waive it off so that they will not loose a potential customer forever.

Too bad! I had to smile at the idea of leashes for kids coming into the store! Maybe not a bad idea...!

Oh I so agree, leashes for the kids is a great idea. And Parents should watch their kids better. Ann, you have a great day.

I had leashes for my kids...they were called reins!! I despise parents of unruly children...after all you can't blame the kids when the parents don't give a damn. Even as my children got older I always had reins handy....they could sometimes be a bit of a handful and if they started to act up they got 'reined' in..literally.

The problem is that kids these days have too much freedom. I have witnessed some awful behaviour from kids and equally awful behaviour from their parents...

I thought the baskets were for small kids, of course this might have been a small but to big for the basket. this is a problem in all stores and I had not thought about the bakery having problems until now. rant on.. it will make you feel better... if I were there I would eat it for you.. LOL... looks delish.. I told bob last week we should open a 55 and older no kids allowed restaurant.. that is the only place we see kids and SEE them we do and HEAR them to. when my kid were little we were to poor to eat out so I have no idea how they would have acted...my first thought was why did the writer of the note not fix the cake and put it back out instead of leaving it for you

Unruly kids, my pet peeve. My dog is better behaved than most kids I see out and about today. Is it the kids fault? Absolutely not!! Firstly, parents aren't the same as what we had growing up. Our parents were strict and if say you got in trouble at school, it was minor to what you got when you got home. Not saying all parents are bad today, as some still discipline their children when need be, and their children respect their parents. However, a large majority that I see out at fairs, restaurants, and grocery stores are running around and their parents don't even know where they are. This scares me, there are too many sickos out there. I like the leash idea. Make parents responsible for their children!! If you don't want to watch them, then don't have them. Period!!

Sorry you had to fix the cake. If I was there we could have ate it together and counted the calories later. :) Keep Smiling, Ann!!

Yes, some parents let their kids run wild. We were at a restaurant with another couple and this couple came in with two kids. Those kids ran all over the place. Up to our table and messing with stuff on our table. Did the parents say anything? No. Finally hubby told the kids very loudly to go sit with your parents. The husband was pissed. Zane just waited for the clod to try something. Those kids and their parents ruined our meal.

Then there are the parents that have crying little ones that need to be in bed and come into a nice restaurant so all the rest of the place can listen to your screaming kids. Oh this really frosts my behind. CLODS!

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I don't believe some of the neglect that "some parents" have with their children. It is a parent's responsibility to raise their children to have good manners and to be respectful of others and the property that does not belong to them. The lack of respect and good work ethics in our world today, I believe stems from parents that didn't make the effort to teach their child well. It's a shame. I do believe that the right of a child to be out of the seat in the basket, should come with the ability to stay by the parent when shopping . . . otherwise back in the kiddie seat you go.

Sometimes accidents happen but when a kid is left to roam the store and drops a cake he shouldn't have picked up in the first place, that's no accident! What if that'd been a jar and he broke it and cut himself? I realize being a parent is a tough job that I know nothing about but I wouldn't let my cats run willy nilly in places where they could get hurt or into trouble so why is it okay for kids to?

I don't have a problem with little kids because I'll correct them if their parents won't (don't). (Yo, short person - stop running/put that down/Is that yours?/Where's your grown-up?) But tweens and teenagers - Oy. Yesterday at the grocery, 11am. 4 early teen girls roll into the grocery store and proceed to tear up and down the aisles, man-handling fruits and vegetables; grabbing handfuls of the 'free samples' and then grab a nerf football and proceed to play football in the aisles...And yeah, no one said anything - sad to say we were probably afraid for our own safety. And that's the world we live in.

In my time. We used to have a leash and I put it on them. They soon got used to it. They were fine in the malls with the leash. At parks no leash was necessary.

Kids today I see are touching things for sure.
How bad was that to get you to fix it.

This is the world we live in now. I am so glad my family are now 50 and 51 and 47.

To bring kids up now. Wow!

No discipline most time of parents.

Most commenters have voiced how I feel as well...Post a sign that says,

If we see children without a parent we will be giving them an Expresso and a Free Kitten!
Hurry Back soon!

That might help...
