And that's a wrap

I was a bit surprised on Tuesday when I looked out the window and saw that my neighbor already had their tree down and out at the curb. I guess they were done with the whole Christmas thing.

Mine will most likely come down either New Years day or the day after. How long do you leave your tree up?

We leave our Christmas things out till the day after New Years. Seems that is the way a lot of people do it. I have read that a lot of the real trees this year are infested with bugs! Maybe that is their problem!

We usually took the tree down the day after Christmas.

Usually the 5th of January...commemorates the 12 days of Christmas.
I've been there with your neighbor though....

Christmas isn't over until the Epiphany on Jan 6. Jesus is baptised by John the Baptist and the Three Wise Men bearing gifts arrive at the manger. If you take down before the twelth day, Jan 5th, it is considered bad luck!

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I don't do a tree nowadays but in the past the tree went up on Christmas Eve and stayed up through January 6th - Little Christmas (or for religions folk - the Epiphany - the day the 3 wise men arrived). So tree got dismantled on the 7th, all the loose pine needles were gathered up and made into pine bags aka bean bags - which for many years were the only toys we got for Christmas - we just had to wait until after Christmas to get them!

My tree is not real so I usually leave it up until mid-January. We have a trip planned so I will start after New Year's day.

For us Christmas begins on Christmas Eve and ends on February 2nd, 40 days after Christmas, which is considered the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord or Purification of Mary... commonly called Candlemas. I try to leave my tree up til then but if I don't, the Nativity scene stays up until then anyway. xxx

ours is artificial. We leave it up until the weekend AFTER New Year's Day. so it will come down a week from tomorrow. I enjoy it, but the house looks so nice and decluttered when all the frolic is gone...
