Doesn't match

Last Wednesday morning I looked at the weather forecast on my phone this is what I saw

 

But when I looked outside this is what I saw

Call me crazy but those do not look like clear skies

Light show

I lead such an exciting life. Just the other night I put on a fantastic light show right in my living room.

 

Okay so maybe fantastic is overstating it just a little bit. What can I say, I get bored sometimes

finished kind of sort of

A while back I showed you a wreath that I was working on. I finally finished it. I feel like it's missing something now but I don't know what else to put on it

 

I will say that the glitter tulle that I worked with is a real pain in the butt. I had glitter everywhere.

The two brown things you see on the one side of the left side of the wreath are clip on leaves that I got at the dollar store

 While I was working on this I needed room on a desk to cut more of the tulle so I temporarily hung it on the wall. (my phone heard  Hyundai Tucson the wall). I had taken down the man cave sign that had been handing there but never pulled the nail out of the wall. Now I'm thinking that from now on I will change this wall out with the seasons

Not your average gardener

I frequently admit to being very bad at gardening. I really don't even try anymore because it's just not my thing. I love seeing beautiful flower beds but I can't create that myself. With that being said the other day I was out in the backyard. I have a plant stand that hasn't had anything in it for a very long time. It just sort of sits there next to my deck looking sad and lonely. While I was out there I noticed the one pot had something growing in it and there was a plant marker in the pot as well.

 

It crumbled when I touched it so I had to take a picture of it like this. I wanted to take a picture of it in the pot next to what was growing. This may be the oddest geranium I have ever seen. Just for laughs I'm sharing the last sentence as it came up when I was speaking to the phone (This may be the artist uranium I have ever seen)

 

Just for clarification I do realize this is a weed. I just found it extremely funny that there was a marker in their calling it geranium

There's a first time for everything

I have been blogging for quite a few years but have never met any of my blog pals face to face. That is until Tuesday when I finally met Joan from My Quality Day. Since she was going to be passing through Pennsylvania on her trip to the Adirondacks she asked if she could park her trailer at my place for a night. My immediate response was sure. She arrived Tuesday evening and left Wednesday morning

 

Pay no attention to the summer hair. It's been hot and humid around here.

It was a thrill to finally meet her face to face and Gibbs sure enjoyed the company as well

Monday

 I did so little on my day off yesterday that I can't even recall what I did do. There was one terrifying thing though that I do remember. I had to make a trip to Walmart and on my way, up ahead in the distance I saw someone run out into the road and then get hit by a car coming from the opposite direction. It was a younger boy and there were quite a few other kids right behind him. The driver who hit him was a young man who looked totally frantic when I got up to his car. I was quite a ways back when it happened but from that distance it didn't look to me like he could have stopped in time to avoid it. I can't imagine what made the young boy run right out like that. I didn't stop because there were already quite a few people who had and there really wasn't anything I could have done. When I went back through everyone was gone. I said a little prayer for both the child and the driver.

Call me strange...

 ...but I love Monday. Of course it's only because it's my day off but that's a good enough reason. I did all that cleaning on Saturday so I have no idea what I'll do with my day. I'm thinking maybe it will be a craft room kind of day. I also want to make some potato salad. I bought all the stuff to make it yesterday. I have a bit of a craving for it. 

Other than that, I have nothing to talk about. I need to either get busy crafting so I have things to show or go out and take random pictures to use for blog posts.

That's the way the cookie crumbles

I had another one of those days where I came home from work, and as soon as I sat down I was done for. Friday I had only planned on sitting for a few minutes and then I was going to start in on the to do list I had. I may have been ok had I not turned on the tv and then closed my eyes for just a second. Before I knew it, it was dinner time. Another little after dinner nap and then it was bedtime. There was no post yesterday but I didn't really have anything to write about any way

Today I still don't have anything to write about but for a different reason. Rather than spending all day Saturday napping, I spent the day cleaning. I finally had some energy so I tackled several of the items on my to do list. It was nice at the end of the day to sit down in a nice clean house. 

TGIF

 I have absolutely nothing to blog about today so I thought I would just pop in and say hello and wish everyone a wonderful day. Lets get this weekend off to a great start. I'm hoping the day goes quick at work today.

One other thing before I go, yesterday Ginny said that she thought the cake was probably for a bus drivers birthday. Actually the bus company was getting things started up for the opening of school at the end of the month so it was pretty much just to celebrate the start of the school year for them.

Oh, and Pam, I was singing that song when I wrote the post yesterday

The wheels on the bus

This was the latest cake order at work.

When I get a request for something like this I google drawings for whatever is requested. Then I sort of do a rough draft on paper and go from there. It sort of looks like a 5 year olds drawing but the ladies who picked it up were happy with it. 

I'm addicted

I am totally addicted to Jennifer McGuire's swing reveal card technique. I absolutely love this style and they are so much fun to make. I spent a ridiculous amount of time on Monday making this one

 

I created a cut file for the basic card to save for making this again easily. Then I added the witch, moon and fence. Once I cut all the pieces, I embellished with markers and pens and then glued all the pieces together. You can't tell in the pictures but I did use some glitter pens on some of the pieces.

Here's a little video to show you how this card swings.

The inside message was also done on the Cricut using the drawing feature. I used a regular font for the words and a dingbat type font for the images.

Swinging

No I haven't taken up a new hobby, the kind of swinging I'm talking about is done on this card I made

 I made this following the technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire. I get a regular email from her that has video tutorials on all kinds of neat ideas. So now I'm guessing you want to know where the swinging comes in. Well here you go. The top part of this card swings back and forth to reveal your message

Gearing up for fall

I think because of all the heat we've been getting I'm ready for fall to get here. I've been thinking about several different craft projects. Yesterday I started on a wreath. I already have a fall wreath but thought I would try to make something using only materials I already had. This is as far as I got.

I'm pretty much just making this up as I go along. Not really sure how many times the plan will change as I go along. I'll post again when I'm done. That is providing this doesn't turn into another one of those projects that never gets finished.

For a boy

I had another cake order at work yesterday

Made me smile

 There is a young couple that lives in the house across the street from me. They have a little boy that's maybe 2 or 3 and a new baby. 

When I came home from work yesterday they were still hard at work on the gas line and they were working on the other side of the street. The dad was sitting under a tree that sits close to the road. He had the baby in a carrier and the little boy was entertaining himself watching the men working. What made this incredibly cute was that he was wearing a hard hat. It was the best thing I saw all day.

Why can't I just do things the easy way

I got home from work yesterday and couldn't take it anymore. I broke down and pulled out the hedge trimmer.

 

It was time to attack the overgrown forsythia and get them back under control. I got this far...

.

... when I felt something stinging my finger. I set the trimmer down and this happened. The blades were still moving enough to cut through the extension cord.

 

I need to use two extension cords to reach the bushes. And wouldn't you know it the one I touched was the longer of the two. I am however sometimes a very determined person and I'm always stubborn so I was not going to leave this job half done. I dug around in the basement and found another extension cord I could use and was able to complete the job

Bummer

I had planned on doing some crafting with my Cricut yesterday for my day off. Unfortunately my computer has decided that it doesn't want to work and I need my computer to use my Cricut. Normally I reboot and that will solve my problems. However this time I'm stuck here

 I can still blog using my phone and my tablet but it's a bit of a pain. I am definitely a desktop kind of girl. This computer is rather old so it's not a huge surprise that I'm having problems. I think it might be time to buy a new computer which I've been wanting to do for awhile but didn't want to spend the money.

I wrote this post in the morning with my phone. Later in the day after a couple more attempts my computer did finally restart. It took patience which I have very little of. Unfortunately, the wait killed my desire to craft. 

Funnies

They are working on putting in a new gas line on my street. There is lots of heavy equipment and digging going on

 

 

The one day they had a nice big hole dug right next to my driveway. Thankfully it was filled back in by the end of the day.

 

Another day I came home and they had a pipe running across the end of my driveway. I parked on the street and was on my way to the front door when one of the guys yelled over and said sorry about that we'll have it out of the way in about 20 minutes

  

It looks like they are done working right in front of my house now and have moved down the street a bit.

Losing it

Last Sunday I went to my daughter's house for dinner. When I got home I realized that I hadn't taken my prescription, which I normally take at dinner time. Because I have to have it with food I grabbed a bowl of ice cream. Fast forward to the next morning I go downstairs open the refrigerator and this is what I see

Looking at this picture I really wish I would have cleaned the fridge before I took it. Oh well. It is what it is. Any way, that ice cream was pretty much done for. Either I was extra tired or I've lost my last marble.

Hydrangea overload

I don't know how many pictures I've already shown of my hydrangea this year but I can't help showing it yet again. I posted these on Facebook so if you follow me there you already saw them. I'm just fascinated by how loaded this bush is after such a slow start this year

 

Then on Sunday we got some rain and because the branches on this are so top-heavy I came home to find it looking like this
