Girls night and the Walmart interview

As it got closer to the time to leave I really did not want to go. Once I got there I was fine but I didn't stay real late. I hate driving at night and I'm not much of a night owl. I left around 9:30. I only got one picture the whole night and it doesn't even have everyone in it.

Friday was my interview at Walmart. It went well but I did let them know about the new owners at the store and wanting to go there because of distance but that I didn't want to burn any bridges with them. There were 3 people in my interview and they went out in the hall to talk about me. When they came back they said they would love to have me but understood my situation. They are keeping my application open in case I decide to go with them. The cons of this job are that it's 10 miles as opposed to a half mile. It starts at $1 less than what I was making before. The hours are 10:00am - 7:00pm.  The pros are that it's a much more stable business and they do offer lots of benefits to their employees.

I'm really struggling with making a decision on this.

After my interview was over I picked up a few items that I needed and went through the checkout. I put my stuff in the car and headed home. When I got out of the car at home I realized my purse was NOT in the car. My purse contained my money, ID, credit cards, and phone. I raced back to the store and when I pulled up to the cart corral where I had been parked before it was empty. I rushed inside and headed to the customer service desk. As I rounded the corner the girl standing there smiled and asked if I was looking for my purse. Needless to say I thanked God the entire way home.

That was so scary! That speaks well for Walmart. I'm glad you had the interview just in case.

you may be suffering from my disease of OVERTHINKING and driving myself crazy trying to make a decision on anything. this is a really life changing decision, so overthinking is a good thing.. do any of the people you met have a job yet?

That is awesome that they are willing to hold your application for you to decide what you want to do. I get not wanting to drive even 10 miles to work when you've worked close to home for so many years. But it may be worth it too really think about all of the benefits. I've left the cart and my purse with TBG before and he put the cart in the bin with my purse in it. By the time I came out it was gone. I went inside and thankfully someone had turned it in. I'm glad you found yours too.

Well done with the Walmart interview. It's so encouraging to know that you're really wanted. Nonetheless, I understand your predicament. The travelling time alone is enough to make you stop and ponder a while.

THANK GOD AOUT YOUR PURSE! Are you saying you got the job at Walmart, but they are holding it for you?

What a wonderful Blessing that your purse was still there. This would be a difficult situation. Do you have any idea as to whether or not the old place is going to open and if so how long would it be? God will guide you.

I hate to say it but I don't trust Walmart at all to tell you the truth. I worked for them in a suburb of Minneapolis and they told me lots of great things--like I would be full time and have benefits, but then they only gave me part-time (31 or 32 hours, if I remember correctly) and no benefits...that I would not be a seasonal hire over Christmas, but then after Christmas they reduced my hours to 3 hours a day and NOT IN A ROW but two 1 1/2 hour shifts to cover somebody for their lunch and dinner breaks! They fired other workers by just not putting them on the schedule at all without any notice. Now I know this was in Minnesota, was years ago, and a lot can depend on who is running one of their stores...but I have heard other tales on how badly they treat their employees. From my own personal knowledge, they are fine with being accommodating about start dates and such because they have such a high turnover. I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I haven't shopped at a Walmart since I worked for them because of finding out how they treated employees--even department managers. Things may have changed by now. I hope they have! Can't help but give you my version of a possible heads up. Sorry.
