Girard, Pa which is a nearby town, is home to one of the largest sunflower fields in the tri-state area. They have approximately 1.2 million sunflowers planted across 50 acres of the historic Battles estate. In the fall the seeds will be distilled into vodka and whiskey by the Wilds Sonshine Factory.
I took a ride recently to see them for myself. It was a little past their prime but still an impressive sight. One side had much larger flowers than the other.

Ann they are amazing...WOW and Paul Bunyan tall too.
I had no idea seeds were used to make Vodka and Whiskey.
That is recycle for sure.
Thank you for taking the trip

They are gorgeous! I need to take a drive and see if they are blooming at the farm here. Beautiful photos my friend!
I actually prefer the ones with smaller heads and bigger petals, but farmers probably need the larger heads. I had no idea, either, that seeds were used to make vodka and whiskey!
Sunflowers are my all-time favorite flower. I'm sure you're glad you went because the field is gorgeous. In Decatur where my mom lives, there is a huge field of them there and it always made me smile to see them.
sunflowers are so pretty and what is funny, I did a post on them today too
Beautiful. It's my favorite flower. We passed fields like that years ago in Paris. Thank you for sharing them.
I love visiting and walking around in a sunflower field. You can't help but smile being there.
Such beauty in Sunflowers... They sure speak to my soul.
That is a lot of sunflowers - how far is that from you? Did that one photo have bees on it - much needed!
I love sunflowers! 👍😊❤️
Loved your photos of the sunflowers. To see so many is an impressive sight and you did great with your photos.
Beautiful! Sunflowers always make me smile! ❤️Kit, Kat, Rocky & Cali
Awwwwww.... how beautiful still, Ann. I bet the birds have fun feasting on some of the seeds in those flower heads. Then what the birds don't get, the rest fall to the ground to reseed for next year. Nature is so wonderful! Love, Andrea xoxo
