Can you guess

OK, I took a day off from my blog and now I'm ready to post again.

Can you guess what this is?

Give up?

Those are part of my September craft project. They are the makings for owl eyes

I'll show you the whole thing another day since the two I have started aren't completely done yet. I took 1" round cardstock circles, folded them in half twice and then cut slices to fringe them. Then I covered them with clear embossing ink, sprinkled on clear embossing powder and got out the heat gun to finish them off. Then I glued them to the owl and glued on the black bead. The little bit of extra effort with the embossing ink and powder was really worth it. It made the paper more durable and the look was more impressive too.

Just for fun I decided to do a little creative editing with the above picture.

Any predictions on how many of these owls I'll be able to complete in the month of September?

Happy Labor Day

I have just a wee bit of advice for those who are still among the working class citizens.

When you're having a bad day or struggling in your job just remember to

brush it off

Stick with it

and have faith that better days are ahead.

For those of you who are retired, congratulations for making it through. And no matter what your status is be sure to enjoy your day today

Never leave it till it's done.
Be the labor great or small,
Do it well or not at all.

For lack of something better

I've got more index cards today. At least I'm not showing you the exact same ones all the time.

Today's batch...

The woman is attached with foam dots so she stands out from the background a bit.  This is another saying that fits me pretty darn good.

I never thought of it quite this way, but I suppose it's true.

A piece of advice that I need to follow quite frequently.

The wrong side of the tracks

A while back I had a discussion with someone about which one of us lived on the right side of the tracks and which one lived on the wrong side We came to the conclusion that so long as a train wasn't passing through it didn't really matter. I have on more than one occasion gone home for my lunch break and on the way back to work had to wait for a train. In that case I definitely lived on the wrong side.

I took this picture one day when Gibbs and I were out for a walk. There was a bit too much sun and the sky was totally washed out.

It wasn't a total loss though. It gave me something to play with

I hope everyone in the U.S. is getting their long weekend off to a great start. I do have today off but have to work tomorrow. Then I have Monday and Tuesday off. At least I get two days in a row.
