A short roll

Some of you may know that I'm going to be doing a craft show again this August. I've had since last years show to work on things and I haven't done very good. I have lots of ideas but just can't get myself going to get anything made.
I did have a very short roll last weekend and made some grubby candles.

I don't have any fancy equipment just an old pan and a baked bean can. I melted down some old candles that were the right color that I was looking for. After the wax was melted I moved the whole pan to the sink and close to where I was going to be dipping.

I bought these plain white emergency candles at the dollar store. I dipped them in the wax then rolled them in a mixture of spices then repeated it one more time and laid them on the wax paper

I thought they looked pretty good and I even tried it with a votive candle. I really liked how that one came out but it wasn't quite as easy to dip down in to the can.

Now I need to decide if I want to package them in twos or threes. I'll wrap a piece of fabric around them with a tag. Which would you prefer 2 or 3?
I would have made more of these but this was all the candles I had to dip. I made a trip to the dollar store and got more of the emergency candles so now I need to get my act together and get busy.

I'll bet they smell really good when lit too. Pretty.

They say never do anything in even numbers so I say three.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. ☺

What a great idea. Mom learned recently how to make candles, she plans to do more in the fall. Your idea is very clever, Love it. I say 2. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

These are great Ann. Do they smell of the spices as they are burnt?? If I was purchasing I would want three as I have three tulip candle holders in the kitchen and I think these would look lovely in them. But I suppose different people will have different ideas!! Maybe you could sell them individually so that people can buy exactly how many they want...you know with every multiple giving a little bit of a discount??

I tried making candles one day many years ago, like 40. I think two would be good. Using the emergency candle is really a clever idea!

Nice candles! I Like the texture and I imagine they smell lovely too. They will be so cute tied with fabric. Two is practical for packaging but three would be cute. Looking forward to hearing more about your craft show in August :)

I am quite sure that anything you bring to the craft show will be received with great fanfare. (Will leaving comments like this help to encourage you to stop by my little corner of the blogosphere a little more often?)

Interesting! I don't think I've ever seen any of those before. I used to love burning nice smelling candles but because of the cats there's no candles in our house. :(

I don't do candles...but perhaps you can add some sparklies/glitter?

If it were me, I would pair them up.
Do the spices smell when they are burning?

They look great! I say wrap them in threes, definitely!

I hope we don't need any of them tonight. We are preparing for some serious storms that should be rolling in at any minute!

I agree with three, :)

I have never seen this done . . . they look very primitive and great for fall decorating (maybe it's the pumpkin color).
I'll just bet this craft made your home smell heavenly :) I might just have to give this a try, thanks for sharing :) Have a lovely weekend,
Your blogging sister, Connie

I like these a lot! I think that two tied together with a strip of fabric would look great. Adding a tag is a great idea too! Now...get busy!!!

Love this idea Ann! I'd go with 2 since usually people have a pair of candle holders.

I think three candles would be good. These came out really nice!

good luck with getting inspired and pulling your items together :-)

Hmmm, 2 or 3, I struggle because everyone has already given great reasons for either one... Maybe buy 2 get 1 "free" (people love "free")... I know, no help...

Hugs, antonella :-)

That is a really neat idea! I like that a lot. I think two. Most people have holders in sets of two.
