Changes

Not posting yesterday was totally unintentional. I thought I had one more post scheduled. Oops. That's a change I hope to avoid in the future.
Other changes I intend to stick with. One of them I told you about a few months ago when I quit smoking. Yes, I have been totally smoke free since May 1. I also managed to keep from gaining too much weight. The problem was I had already added quite a few pounds before I even quit smoking.

So my latest changes are in my diet.
1. I gave up the diet coke and I'm drinking either plain water or iced tea (mostly water and I cup of coffee first thing in the morning)
2. No more junk food.
During the day my new diet consists of either fruits or vegetables. At dinner I eat whatever Wade happens to be making and he's not a dieter. In the evening if I want a snack I try to make it fruit, jello, yogurt or something like that.

I recently made some sweet potato fries. They were incredibly good and ALL MINE. I tried to share with Wade but he said he didn't like them.

I've never had home-made sweet potato fries, but at restaurants, yes. They're delicious.

That's fantastic about being smoke free. More power to you.

July must be the month for changes. I'm making some of my own, but won't share in the event I fall flat on my face, which is possible. :)

Wishing you continued strength as you move forward on a healthier lifestyle Ann. xo

I quit smoking on Oct 28th, 1994. Best thing I ever did for myself. Just the smell of cigarette smoke literally makes me feel sick to my stomach it smells so bad. I look forward to you sharing your annual 'non-smoking' anniversaries with us here on your blog... YAY YOU!

Congrats on being smoke free! I quit almost 4 years ago and it is so freeing! No trying to figure out when or where I can smoke or who I might offend. Stay Strong!
Sweet potato fries YUM!!!!
Good luck on the healthy eating. I can't call it a diet or I won't stick to it. Trying to eat healthy is sometimes a challenge but you can do it.

Congratulations of the non-smoking - that's wonderful. Sweet potato fries are fabulous - we've been eating them for years - I buy them frozen and make them in the oven...I don't like white potatoes - only the orange kind.

(You know that video from Wednesday plays automatically, right? So from now on anytime someone accesses your blog they will hear that...)

Congratulations on not smoking since May 1. That's fabulous. You will look younger and feel way better. Not to mention how much better you will smell. I'm so proud of you.

Pass me some of those sweet potato fries.

Have a fabulous Friday. My best to Duke. ☺

It is a proven scientific fact that mounds of bacon is an essential part to any happy diet, and since it is another proven scientific fact that being unhappy is very unhealthy, one should devour all of the bacon they can get their hands on. By the way, Duke approves of this message!

I am also on a healthy ish diet at the moment. Congrats on kicking the smoke habit.

I couldn't understand where the music was coming from until I scrolled down the page, I really enjoyed that song. Thanks.

Congratulations for staying smoke free!!!!! I know how hard it is. But how on earth did you manage it without gaining weight. And come to think of it, you are so nice and thin, why would you even try to diet? Don't deprive yourself TOO much!

Oh Ann.... I am SO SO SO SO proud of you... You are doing great. Just don't allow yourself to even take that first puff....

I don't know about smoking since I've never smoked --but I do know about dieting --and weight loss. It's dang hard!!!!!

It took me WAY too many years to realize that healthy eating is a lifestyle --and not something we can do off and on... I have finally kept my weight off now for a year --and it's the first time in my adult life that has happened. I could always lose --but would gain it back quickly... I work harder now than I did when I was dieting at maintenance.... SO--keep up the good work...

Staying away from the junk and fast foods, exercising and drinking lots of water (I also drink alot of Crystal Light) helps SO much.

Good Luck. I'll be your biggest cheerleader....

HUGS,
Betsy

Yea, congrats on your quitting smoking Ann. Remember that the urges that hit only last a very short time and are gone! Knowing this helped me a lot :) Wow, and I have been Diet Coke free also, for about 3 years. So happy for you in your life style changes.
