Well I downloaded the design and read the instructions for how to make these. Ignoring the recommendation to use Ultra Solvy stabilizer I proceeded with what I had.
FAIL!
I almost ordered the right stabilizer online but thought I would just make a trip to Joanne and see if they had it there. I got it quicker by buying it in the store but it would have been about $8.00 cheaper if I had bought it online.
I set the machine up using the recommended stabilizer and hit the start button while I held my breath.
Here's the completed one next to the first attempt.
These are just amazing but I don't know how many of them I'll actually make. They use quite a lot of thread and they take forever to finish. Or maybe they don't take all that long and I'm just impatient.

Yup, I bet that uses up a lot of thread...but it turned out beautiful :)
These are so lacy and beautiful. And what a huge difference between the first and second one! Yes it was a fail, but that is how we all learn, and you came back beautifully!
Gorgeous, these would look good on crazy patchwork.
Don't worry about the failure, we all have them, my best to date was the book cover that didn't fit, I sort of ripped it up in my annoyance, lol

SO beautiful! Well, this time your attempt to use a substitute was a fail but often times it does work out and you save a lot. Now you know :)
thanks for my lol of the morning on that first one. it looks just like what would happen if i tried it.. the second one is really beautiful.. it would be pretty hanging on a tree, or is it to big..

Oh my gosh...both I think are beautiful. Y'know, NO snowflake is identical to another and all are different shapes and sizes. So your first attempt isn't a failure in my eyes!
There's quite a difference in those attempts! That does look like it uses a lot of thread but it's really pretty! I saw a tall, skinny kitty once made with stuff like that and used for a bookmark. I loved it!
I will say that the last one is beautiful. Yes, you need the right equipment if you want something to turn out like it's supposed too.

Hi Ann, I don't know much about the different stabilizers, so I probably would have done the same thing. Who would know that one wasn't as good as another, for a project. Well, your snowflake is beautiful. I can not wait to see what you do with them. Have fun!

Sorry your first attempt failed, but oh my, your second try is fantastic! I know what you mean about being impatient, sometimes I will skip over a project because it is taking too long... Hugs, antonella :-)
Beautiful work. Practice makes perfect! You can make some beautiful holiday decorations with these pretties. But I know what you mean about patience since I like to create things that don't take long!
Could you not just wait a couple of months and pick up the natural ones for free?
