Don't worry there is no right or wrong here. Just a little test to see how close you come to what things actually look like around here.
Remember the work going on in my back yard? Well when you think about it does it look anything like this?
Now imagine it being a little wider. Would it look something like this?
What if you were to add lots of rain. Would it then look like this?
Now imagine Duke going out in the back yard. Would he come in looking something like this?
Actually those paws don't look too bad in the picture but you should have seen the tub after I got done washing all that mud off him. He even managed to get it on his face

Oh Oh :-) Woof Woof to DUKE. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Oh yeah! I can relate to MUDDY Paws!! We have that problem often here!! Happy Tuesday Ann.
Oh boy....if it isn't flooding in the basement...it's a muddy paw!!! But hey, I imagine it was cute none the less. Y'know Duke is a favorite.
The paws might be grubby, but they are still super cute :)
Sorry your back yard is currently a mess...
Duke can do no wrong in my eyes. lol

Can only imagine the amount of dirt from those paws...it looks a bit wet and messy out there. But am sure it will be nice in the end.
I have tried to train pets to wipe their feet to no avail. It was worse when I had 2 boxers who lived to dig in the garden and wear what little grass was available down to the soil.
And NOT good for all that white fur!! Stains!
How awful!

I think I pictured it pretty close to the reality of what you are actually having to live with!!!
Hmmmm, there might be a niche in the pet market for doggy Wellington boots!
Ugh. Just keep imagining your yard lake-free on those early spring days.
Lake-free.
Lake-free.
Lake-free.
(Is it helping?)
We have to agree with Lin. We sure hope it helps with the Spring flooding. Besides, Duke had a wonderful time, mud and all. Take care.
OH NOOOOOO...the rain did not wait until they were ready for it.. at least we see why they are doing it.. what a mess and I must say i did laugh long and hard at the Pawsome ART in the last photo...
Dogs and kids - mud magnets...When we had a dog (back when we lived in Vermont) her favorite thing was rolling around in dead fish, we lived right near Lake Champlain and that's where my husband would take her for walks. She spent a lot of time having baths at the local doggy day care because there was no way she was coming in the house covered in dead fish smell and detritus...
Yep, Duke is doing what Duke does best. He has to inspect everything to make sure all is well. He's working hard and when he works hard he gets muddy. How was that? Bwahahahahahaha.
Just think how nice it will be when you won't have a lake in your yard anymore. Nice payoff I think.
Have a terrific day. My best to that hard working Duke. ☺
Bet Duke had fun in the mud though! Oh what a mess they've made! Hope they put sod down because it's going to be a very long time before any grass seed would stick and grow with winter and then rainy spring coming!
Oh no - he is going to get dirty!
Oh My.... Those people certainly are making a mess!!!! BUT--just like little boys, Duke probably loves playing in that MUD.... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
It's been raining here all day -- but we don't have a road going thru our yard --- so it's all good. :)
Oh NO!!!! Are they done now? Will you plant grass, or maybe those grass mats that have grass seed in them?
Our doggies do enjoy a romp in the mud, don't they. That photo of poor Duke with the twisted head actually makes me dizzy, LOL
Beautiful photos!
sand... muddy paws... are what makes the house a home :D we r resorting to wearing slippers in the house now.. too much sand in the house.
Duke needs some doggy wellies!
What a mess. I'm sure it's called "progress"
The ultimate mud puppy !
Wow! They sure did make a mess! Hope they're almost done. I bet Duke looks handsome after his bath.
Oh oh - puppy footy prints all over!!
xo Catherine
Yikes, it is going to be a long, muddy trail, isn't it?
Chin up!
antonella :-)
Lucky you have hardwood floor. Duke probably had a lot of fun.
