The only pictures I have ready for a blog post are more index card art.
According to this one I'm still ok.
I absolutely LOVE this picture. That little girl just cracks me up

A one day weekend
When you only have a one day weekend you have to try and cram a whole lot in that one day. But you can also choose to just say forget it all and do nothing. Yesterday I did a little of both. I did my weekly shopping trip, came home and spent an hour or so cleaning and then the rest of the day I spent doing a little playing in the craft room and a little bit of nothing.
I also did a little bit of photo editing because I haven't done any in a very long time. Just one picture but it's flowers and it's for all my wonderful friends who stop by here.
Think of me while I'm slaving away today.

At the hardware store.
There's a little mom and pop type hardware store not too far from us and it's closer than running to either Home Depot or Lowes.
I like going in and browsing around while Wade is getting his assorted hardware type things. The last time we were in there I found these.
I liked this garden stake
and I especially liked this butterfly
and this night light made me think of Lin and all her froggy pals

The documented life project
I'm really looking forward to a new month and a new theme because I'm not liking this one so much. I've yet to even start the latest challenge that came out last Saturday. I better get moving since there will be another new one coming out tomorrow
Well here goes. I won't explain anything with this because I have no excuses for it.

It had a happy ending
The other day I was walking towards the sliding glass door. I saw a couple birds flying towards the house. One flew up over the roof and one flew right in to the window. I saw it drop to the deck. I looked out on the deck and it was laying there on it's back.
Naturally I call for Wade because I'm not picking up a dead bird and I don't want Gibbs getting it and bringing it in the house. While I was closing off the doggy door so Gibbs couldn't get out I noticed it was still breathing. Wade picked him up and put him down in the grass near the feeder and we hoped he just had the wind knocked out of him.
Thankfully when I looked out a little bit later he was gone. I hate it when they fly in to the windows like that but at least this one lived to tweet about it.

This is very addictive
Seems all I have to blog about lately is my index card art. It's become quite the addiction. Since I have so many of them that you haven't seen yet and I keep making more I'll give you more today.
This one isn't snarky but when I read it I thought how true that really can be so I used it.
Contrary to popular belief (but not from the blogging world)...

I can take a hint....sometimes.
Not too long ago I left a comment on Anni's blog and she thought what I said would make for a good index card. So I went in search of the necessary pictures and I made one.
This one is for you Anni

Was it something I said?
I shouldn't look at the numbers but I do any way and the numbers say that a whole lot of people stopped commenting on this here little corner of the blogosphere. Maybe I said something wrong or could be I just got too boring. I sure do appreciate the few of you who still stop by and leave me your comments. Without them I think I would have to just give up blogging.
I should give you a flower or something.
Too bad I didn't think of it sooner because now it's dead.
Will you keep coming back any way? Please!!!!

Who turns one year old today?
Now if he'll start learning the rules around here he might make it to two.

Index card art
How about another batch of my index cards. I probably should mention here that on some of these I've used pictures that I've found online. Unfortunately I haven't kept track of where I've found them. If anyone should happen to see something that belongs to them please let me know and I will give you credit.

Project 365 week of Aug 9th
8/9 Day old Italian bread being made in to garlic bread. Just one of the many fascinating parts of my work day.
8/10 6:00 am the sky looked amazing to me. I couldn't help but sit and take several pictures of it before the sun came up.
8/11 A friend of Wades cut down some trees on his property and brought them over to Wade for his back yard fires. This was the third day the big pile of tree branches were sitting waiting to be cut up.
8/12 Gibbs doing what he does best. Looking cute
8/13 One of the nice things about my job is that if I find a recipe I want to try but don't necessarily want to spend the money without knowing if I'll like it, I can try it out at work. I found this recipe for Pina Colada Fluff and made it at work. It's really good and it's selling too. If you would like the recipe you can find it at this link Pina Colada Fluff
8/14 Stopping at the beer distributor. While Wade got his Miller Lite I took a shot of Busch and Bud
8/15 The zucchini that a friend of ours gave us. I got started bright and early making zucchini bread and zucchini brownies

Popping pills
I read a lot of articles claiming this vitamin or that herb is a miracle cure for what ails you. Some I've tried and some I ignore. Most of the time I don't think that they do what I read they would.
Not too long ago I read in Woman's World magazine about taking vitamin D-3 to help tame chronic pain. It also said to skip using acetaminophen because it supposedly zaps your happy. Actually what it said was that it reduces positive emotions like joy and happiness. It said to take a daily dose of curcumin extract instead.
Since I'm all for anything that will help with all the aches and pains I bought these and decided to give them a try. After all they're only vitamins and herbs and they weren't all that expensive.
I'm not 100% pain free but I do feel a whole lot better. One of the girls I work with said she's also taking the Turmeric Curcumin because she has knee pain and she also feels less pain. The way I look at it, even if it's all in my head, if I feel better that's all that matters.

Index card art
Can you stand some more of my index cards? I hope so because I have quite a few of these done. They're quick to do and fun.
I thought this one was appropriate considering I make donuts every morning.
I used decorative tape for a border on this one.
I love the way this one looks. I stamped the flower on the background then colored it in. The border was done with a sharpie and the bottom border is another decorative tape that I found at the dollar store.

Project 365 week of 8/2/15
8/2 While we were sitting around waiting for customers at the craft show I was looking through a magazine that Debbie brought. I liked this craft project (and several others) so I took a picture of the page. I figured it would be rude to rip the page out of her magazine :)
8/3 Mr. Gibbs giving me the look
8/4 Chow time
8/5 I snapped a picture of the time cards while I was waiting to punch in.
8/6 When I saw these coins laying on the table I wondered if it was a sign that I needed some change in my life.
8/7 Hooray Wade finally put the doggy door in
8/8 Gibbs checking the pool out. He won't jump in like Duke would but if Wade takes him in he will swim to the steps

The Documented Life Project
I can say without a doubt that I am going to have a problem getting through this month for the art journal pages.

Faces, the Human Form & Characters

Art Challenge: Expressive Faces
Journal Prompt: What I see clearly now
I don't draw faces or the human form well at all. Characters maybe. I'm sure I can wing a goofy looking cartoon character but I know I won't be satisfied with it.
Any way, here goes this is my page
I started by trying to draw a face. Or rather half a face. I kept drawing then covering it up, drawing and covering it up. Finally I said enough, splatter some paint and ink around that thing and move on.

This really ticks me off.
This was supposed to post this morning and some how the time got changed on it. Oh well, better late than never.
I told my boss I want to post a sign that says "When you are vandalizing our bakery products, please smile for the security camera located directly above the donut case"
This is what they keep doing to my fudge and a couple other products.
This is not a one time thing. Every time I make it I find at least one package that has been broken up and often times they've stuck their finger down in it.
Obviously since they have broken through the plastic wrap this is now garbage. I know everyone needs a hobby but this one just isn't cool

Faster than a speeding bullet
I wanted to try and take a picture of Gibbs coming through his doggy door but he was faster than a speeding bullet
Since that picture isn't really enough to satisfy your Gibbs craving I'll give you another. I thought this one looked rather nice in black and white.

Just 10 minutes
A while back Katie from Westie Julep posted about the 10 minute table runner. Just 10 minutes? Really? I think I can find time for that. So I asked her if it was a pattern she bought or something she found on line. She sent me the link to the You Tube video that shows you how to make them.
Not only did I make one just like she shows in the video but I also made a real small one using up some scraps I had.
I've actually made a few more of these but don't have pictures of the others. I confess it probably took me longer than 10 minutes since I tend to take forever to cut fabric but they were really quick to make.

Art Challenge: Real Life
Journal Prompt: At this Moment
I didn't quite get the prompts for this one. I'm not sure why they just didn't make sense to me but that's the way my brain works sometimes.
I started out painting my page and the look I was going for turned out totally awful. I happened to have some tissue paper that has typed words on it. I glued a piece to the page and the ugliness underneath it showed through just enough to give it a really amazing look. At least I thought so.
I didn't do a whole lot more to this once I glued the tissue paper on. I used a sharpie to outline certain phrases on the tissue that I wanted highlighted. I smudges a little off white paint in a few spots to help emphasize the wrinkles in the tissue. Then I wrote out the words Real Life and Right Now on a piece of paper. I colored them then cut around them and glued them on to the page.
I love the look of the wrinkles on the page. They add some really nice texture.
I took an embossing tool and went around the letters to give it a bit of a raised feel.
And then I called it done.

Project 365 week of 7/27
7/27 Sunset at the end of the day. The colors in the sky were much more amazing than the picture shows
7/27 Gibbs and I were out for a walk. He jumped up on this wall for a raised flower bed in front of the funeral home
7/29 Watching me watching you. Or also known as had no motivation for taking a picture and this is all I did
7/30 ready to go and waiting for the time clock to click on 2:30
7/31 Just another losing lottery ticket
8/1 The car is all packed and ready for the morning. My tote bag and my cooler are all I have to remember when I head out the door.
8/2 another look at that cute westie I spotted at the craft show

What I won
Or maybe I should say Gibbs won this. Any way, I feel bad that it has taken me this long to tell you all about it but it took Wade this long to actually put this up.
So here goes. I won a giveaway over at Bichonpawz. Jean had this incredible giveaway for a PetSafe sliding glass pet door. I can not believe I actually won this. I was thrilled.
Here's the link to the PetSafe door if you want to check it out there http://store.petsafe.net/sliding-glass-patio-door
The package arrived here and then it sat right inside the door for what felt like forever.
I considered trying to put it in myself but it came with screws and pieces parts and an instruction book that looked like a foreign language to me. I'm not saying that it had confusing directions I'm just saying that my brain couldn't handle the overload. So I waited for Wade to get around to doing it.
Yesterday he was off and when I got home from work he had it in. Now he didn't install it exactly the way they say to but he said he liked it this way better and it will work just as well. He also said he could not get Gibbs to go through it.
I have better powers of persuasion and Gibbs did go through it. Of course I had to keep making him go through it before he figured out what exactly it was that he was doing.
The nice thing about this door is that it isn't permanent. It can be removed. I'm hoping that Gibbs will enjoy his new found freedom of being able to go out on the deck all by himself. As for the door itself I can say that PetSafe has a quality product here.
A big thank you to Jean for hosting this awesome giveaway.

Not much of a swimmer
Wade had been hoping that Gibbs would follow in Duke's footsteps and be his pool partner. He kept threatening to throw him in and the only thing that saved Gibbs from that fate is that I wouldn't let him do it. He did carry him in though and Gibbs will swim but he's not in to it like Duke was.
He's a bit skeptical of the rafts too.

Index card art
What is index card art? Exactly what it says. It's art created on an index card. I originally called these snark cards but not all have been snarky but they all go to work with me and hang on my table to make me laugh. I really need extra laughs to get through my day any more.
Every day I change the card and so far I haven't used the same one twice. I have quite a few of these done so I'll show you three of them today.
I'm still doing my art journal too. These are just little extras that are mostly quick to do. Like my art journal though, I use all different things to make them. Markers, colored pencils, paints and inks have all been used to make these.

What I saw and what I bought
While I was sitting around at the craft show I noticed a little white guy standing in the shade. I think Duke must have sent this guy to check on me and wish me luck for the weekend.
Debbie pointed out this necklace to me on Saturday. Finally on Sunday I couldn't resist it calling my name and bought it for myself. We've had a space next to Cindy of Creative Crafting Corner LLC for a few years now and it's always a pleasure. I think I've bought something from her every year.
So this will be the end of posts from the 2015 craft show. Starting tomorrow I'm back to whatever I can dig up to post about. I honestly have quite a lot to blog about but don't know what to start with first.
