Night shots

Today is day 3 of the fair and I've yet to go. I was too wiped out after mowing on Tuesday and last night by the time I got done working my back was killing me and I just wanted to veg on the couch. I'm thinking I'll probably skip it tonight too. Friday sounds like a good day to go and maybe another trip there on Saturday.

So the other day I was out on the deck shortly before I went to bed. I noticed there was a lot of lightning and so I grabbed my camera to see if I could catch any. I didn't do so good but at least I tried.
The first few pictures I took my timing was really off and this was all I got.

This was as good as I could get. Maybe if there wouldn't have been so many clouds I would have gotten actual lightning instead.

Still, it's very pretty. I can see the light behind the sky showing off the navy blue.

you did much better than I do with night shots. I can't seem to get the hang of it. I think you need a time lapse camera on a tripod to get good shots of lightning..

I think you did pretty well considering it was night. Night shots are the most difficult for me.

The night sky looks purple in the second photo - very dramatic.

Hey, that's a good shot! I think you have to slow down your shutter speed to capture lightening.

I hope you can get to the fair to enjoy it. I always like the food the best!

I'm the worlds worst picture taker. Terrible.

We've not gone to the fair in years. I think that ship has sailed.

I'll be happy when you're on vacation.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Those clouds are gorgeous!! You're lucky the fair comes at this time - hope it's nice and cool - ours is in August when it's too hot to go.

I havent tried photographing lightning yet. I wonder if your chances of capturing a shot of lightning would increase by using the continunous shot setting or put it on sports mode. I will have to try it when we eventually get some rain out this way.
