moth sighting

Recently I spotted  a moth hanging out on my kitchen window screen I grabbed a quick picture from the inside.

Then I headed outside to get a better look at him.

I never seem to be able to get pictures of butterflies because they're always flitting around so fast but moths are a different story. They seem to like to find a spot and chill.

I've been looking up grey moth identification, and this looks like a Tulip Tree Beauty Moth. On the bark of the Tulip tree, it is well camoflauged. See if you agree.

yes, I verifyed it is a Tulip Tree Moth, google lens says so and so dos Ginny. must be so. It is so pretty and furry looking and I am impressed at how clean your screens are. mine are not

Did you know that many moths look like butterflies? The way to tell the difference is that moths have fuzzy antenna. And moths make a cocoon, while butterflies make a chrysalis. That's the extent of my moth knowledge.

Chillin' and checking out what you are up to!

I agree; moths do enjoy their "rest" period. Great picture of one too! We rarely see butterflies here in our backyard (probably because we don't have anything that attracts them, lol) but I too would like to get a picture of one but so true, they are very elusive!

Like hummmingbirds, they are always moving and flying, hard to get a good pic of them all. Nice work though.

Awwwww...how beautiful! Moths & butterflies don't live very long but work so hard to morph. Bless their hearts. ~Andrea xoxo

I've seen these around here and they blend in so well with the bark on the trees.
I read what Ginny said and we do have quite a few tulip trees on our property.
