From my desk

Yesterday mom showed you something about me so today I'm going to show you something about her. Want to see what was on her desk?

 

She was busy making another one of those notebooks again. This time she even liked the way it looked and told me I could show it to you.

 

She put this one in the mail to cousin Joyce the other day. Mom says Joyce is a lucky lady because she got to do something called retire. 

 

I wonder if dogs get to retire. 

Wishful Wednesday

A little bit of wishful thinking for Wednesday. If you've been following my blog you can probably guess what I'm wishing for. Yes, that's right, SUNSHINE and summer. Since some of you were eager to see Duke on his raft and that goes right along with my wish for warm weather I thought I would bring on the pictures from last year and the year before.

 

Here he is thinking about jumping in. And yes, he does jump in on his own. If you don't watch him closely, and he wants to swim he just goes for it. Believe it or not, he'll jump in from the ladder, swim around and then he can climb back out all on his own. He swims back over to the ladder and climbs it. 

 

Ahhhh, doesn't that look refreshing?

 

Here he is on one of our rafts. This one has always been his favorite for some reason. He loves to get underneath the back of it.

 

This was after he got his first hair cut and I bought him his OWN raft.

 

Last summer we bought him this boat. He normally gets on one of the rafts, floats out to the middle and then just sits there and barks because he's not moving. Well this one we tied a rope to. When he floats out and stops we just pull the rope and put him into motion...lol He also loves it when you kick water at him.

Fashion or Faux pas?

This time of year it goes without saying, you need boots. I however don't wear them very often. I have one pair and I don't like driving in them because they are really heavy. About the only time I'll wear them is if I'm out shoveling or maybe walking Duke. They're not bad looking though and they certainly are warm.

 

These were actually a hand me down pair from Amanda. That makes them even better because I didn't have to pay for them.

Now when it comes to boots for Wade, he has one favorite pair that I lovingly refer to as his "dork boots". He says they're comfortable, warm and he likes them. I think he's under the impression that I'm embarrassed to be with him when he's wearing them. Yes, I think they are goofy looking. If he likes them though, that's all that matters.

 

I did own a pair like these eons ago, at the time they called them moon boots. He's such a sport for standing still while I took a picture of them.

Rushing things

Now as much as I want summer to get here, I think Wade has me beat. He's a total sun worshiper. Come summer time, give him sunshine and water and he's one happy camper. When I say water, I'm not talking about a glass of it. He loves the pool. He'll go out on the raft and fall asleep for hours if you let him. Although, since Duke shares his love of the pool, it's hard for him to get in there without being disturbed.
With all that being said, I really do think that he should at least wait until the snow melts.

 

This is Duke and Wade walking on top of the pool. He had just finished shoveling off the deck and decided to test the water, uh I mean ice. Duke doesn't pass up an opportunity to go in the pool so he followed. This summer I'll have to work on doing a video of Duke swimming and on his raft. (he has his own) He's hysterical.

On another note. A comment was left on my last post from Sandy questioning the use of Google reader. She mentioned that it defeated the purpose of "visiting" a blog. Well, maybe it does if that's the way you are using it. If you have a new post up, it will appear in my reader. I then click on the link to go to the blog itself. From there I read the post, leave my comment if I have one (which most of the time I do), do the drop if I remember and then return to reader and start over with the next blog. I don't see how that could possibly kill blogging or even mess with page rank. I'm still going to the blog. Nothing comes to my email box for reader either.  Not only do I visit but I leave a comment so they know I was there and read their post. If I didn't visit other  blogs, why would anyone want to visit mine? I would think that the people who are doing all of their reading directly from Google reader are more than likely people who aren't bloggers themselves. If you are a blogger then you already know that the only way to "Get known, is to Be known".  In other words you have to put yourself out there if you want people to know you are there to visit.

I tried to just use my blogger dashboard but that doesn't allow me to add blogs that aren't on blogspot. Using the reader is the easiest way I have found so far to keep track of my favorites.
