I used to like to read but eventually found that I would fall asleep after reading just a couple of pages so I haven't picked up a book in quite some time.
A couple weeks ago I ran across one in Walmart and it said "buy me"
A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope - a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life...as only a dog could tell it.
I think it was the dog lover in me that made me buy the book. The words heart-wrenching, funny and uplifting are perfect descriptive words for this story. I laughed out loud, I even cried in some parts. The best thing I've read in a long time. After reading this book though, I wonder even more just what is going through Duke's mind.

LOL Those Golden eyes will get you every time! Looks like a good book. :D
Besides being a stress reliever, reading is lot of fun too..This must be something like Black Beauty-the story told by a horse..
I love to read but have a hard time reading anything animal related. It has something to do with that heart wrenching part! :)
It sounds like a must-read, and the title is really good. Is the dog the narrator of the story?
This sounds like one I would enjoy....I know what you mean...so often...I wonder what is going on in the minds of Chloe and LadyBug!
I think I'll have to look for this book!
Thanks for sharing!
BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does the dog die? I hate books that end with the dog dying. Ruins the whole darn thing for me.
I know what you mean about wondering what is going through Dukes mind. I wonder the same about Claudia. Sometimes I can look at her and see things in her eyes. I might have to get that book for my wife.
Poor Duke, under scrutiny again.
I am a sucker for any book with a dog on the cover, when I go to the library, i look for mystery, if i pull it out and their is a dog on the cover i get it. this one sounds great. did you read Marley and Me?
I like the photo of the dog peeking over the edge of the book. So cute!

Artful Rising
I read best in the loo.. *LOL* that is why i am there in my hideout longest.
Gotta get this book :) Thanks for the review Ann.
Who is the publisher of this book, please? I would like to read it to Sadie the German Shepherd, she is bored with television.
Sounds perfect, Ann... I'll bet the picture of that doggie on the cover drew you to that book... Glad you enjoyed it. Dogs are just so special!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
It sounds like a wonderful book. So glad you took time for yourself and enjoyed a good book. I'm all about doggies and if it has a doggy on it...I look at it! I might have to look for this book as a treat to myself. I just ordered Clark Howard's "Living Large in Lean Times". But I think I would enjoy your book more. :)
sounds wonderful but like you I fall asleep after a few chapters, Maybe we're not getting enough rest or something?
Thank you for recommending this book ~ I'm going to look for it. I Love dogs and stories about them. I caught part of a PBS Nova show on dogs yesterday. They are simply amazing.
When you finish you will have to do a book report on it and let us know if we should get it. sandie
Sounds like a good book indeed. I often wonder what our Little Bit is thinking too.
Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)
I adore dog stories! Thank you for the recommendation!
Oh how could ya resist those eyes that just scream...take me home!!!
Thanks for the great review, I checkin' this out for my snowed in winters list!
God bless ya sweetie and enjoy this beautiful week!!! :o)
That looks awesome! My Mommeh will have to download it to her Kindle to read.
That does sound like a good book. Might make a great Christmas present for a friend that has tons of dogs. Thanks for telling us about it. Hope you have a great day or evening.
I have the same problem! Reading makes me so drowsy.
I can read while on the ellptical though so maybe I'll look into that book. Who could fall asleep during torturous workouts?
Ditto what Lin said...
I think I've heard of this one.
I've heard lots of great things about this book, but for whatever reason I've yet to read it. It's definitely on my TBR list though!
