A letter

Dear Anonymous,
While I appreciate everyone who visits my blog and leaves a comment, I must say that you have me a bit confused sometimes.  Your comment "OMG, do you see whats happening in Syria? In spite of a brutal government crackdown, the manifestations continue " in regards to this post made me wonder if I should have been feeling guilty about hiding out in the house and hibernating for the weekend.
At least when you commented on this post you did acknowledge that it was off topic by saying "I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. " I would have gladly given you advice on starting up your own blog but of course you are anonymous and I have no way of contacting you. You are correct though in saying that it cost a pretty penny for my blog and if you would like to send me a few pretty pennies I would gladly start one up for you.
Duke was especially confused when you chose to comment about your cannon ink cartridge (complete with links) on his post. You remember, it was the one when I thought someone was knocking on the door. We don't mind a little link love now and then but we prefer to only give it to people who reveal their identity to us.
Last but not least when we did a little archive diving we really didn't understand why you thought we needed to know testerone without a prescription european pharmacy online pharmacy uk Again, we removed your link because I am not in the practice of giving free advertising to strangers.
So Anonymous, I ask you, are you a real person? Do you read my blog? Do you know how to spell? Will you ever give up this silliness?
Sincerely
Us
And for the benefit of all those who come here in hopes of seeing Duke

Duke looks a little perplexed by your anonymous commenter. I've been getting some similar comments - silliness indeed!

He just gets cuter every day and I can't believe how persistent those people are.

Yikes!!!! And I see that Duke is taking all this VERY seriously, because this blog is HIS territory!

Spammers, what a pain they are!
But your post made me chuckle - and there the perfect end - the darling Duke !

Sorry. I was just trying to make your comments a little more diverse in regards to style and substance, and if I can make a pretty penny or two in the process--more treats for me!

What the heck is wrong with these people. Drives me nuts.

Lovely pic of Duke!!! The Handsome Dude!!

Doesn't that just annoy? A. Nonny sure does get around, doesn't she? Definitely needs a hobby (Well, outside of littering the net with propaganda and pointless drivel, that is).
Mornin' Duke ;o)

I delete so many stupid anonymous comments. Most of them make no sense and make it quite clear that that the person does not speak English as a first language. Delete Delete Delete.

I was receiving 10-15 of those comments daily and just about a month ago disabled anonymous comments. I didn't want to because of kind readers that don't have a blog. But, I haven't received one such comment since.

Occasionally a comment will get posted and when I follow the comment back it goes to a selling site. They are tricky and the comment sounds ligit.

Haha! I got similar ones too before I changed my setup on my commenting form. Anonymous people can't comment on my blog.
Hugs to Duke :)

Woof! Woof! Golden Laughs on those SPAM comments. Delete is ANN. Golden Hello Duke. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

And that is why I have to have the word verification. It's such a pain, but I didn't like the intrusion of spam--especially when they started burying it in older posts.

Some people are just weenies. I think Duke needs a guard dog!

I did get similar comments but it went directly to the spam box.

Duke looks like he was telling the readers "I'm not taking those non sense!"

I LOVE DUKE and I do come here to see Duke, but I also love you too and I removed my anonymous thingy last year because of stuff like this. by doing that it made my blog so 3 friends can't comment, so they send me emails. i got a few things that were even wackier than yours. I like this post and it made me smile. love the sarcasm and humor. sign me NOT Anonymous,

Woof-Woof from Julep and Derby!

Hmm, maybe you should shut off the feature to allow anonymous commenters...at least for a while. That's really annoying. Blogger needs to step up their game.

I think you should dip anonymous in beef juice and feed him to Duke. That sounds like a win/win.

I'm here for You and Duke! :) I've only had a couple of these, probably because I'm still new and have only a few followers.

Hello!

They very seldom give up. The silly ones are easily ignored, it's the others that make one wonder what the sender's problem is.

I love the photos of Duke! I just want to steal that handsome guy! :<) Wishing you a happy day!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane

I'm sayin'...I just deleted one filled with cuss words the other day so I know anonymous has a real potty mouth! Heeehehe!

I also have a problem with folks who have no contact info on their profile. There's no way to thank 'em for joining or commentin' on your blog.

Whew, there's Duke. I was afraid he wasn't gonna show today. :o)

Sweet!!!

God bless ya and have a joyous day!!! :o)

I came here for Duke and the other great stuff. That anonymous guy sure does get around though. He's been creeping out of the shadows and pushing some of the same stuff on my blogs. I'm glad that I have Blogger's spam filters turned on though. They catch almost every last bit of his strange writing.

Marg said...

Yup those spam comments are sometimes pretty darn funny. We sure are glad to see you Duke and we are NOT anonymous. That was hysterical. You had Mom laughing out loud. Take care. Smile Duke

How funny! I've had a few funny ones myself. When I first started my blog, I posted a recipe (probably my first recipe) and someone was talking about trying it. Then she said, "I always tell everyone that I learned how to cook from you!"

She signed it Karen. I have no idea who this person is! I only know one Karen and we never cooked together.

I'm pretty sure she was messing with me!

Oh My Goodness... I don't accept anonymous comments for that very reason. If people cannot sign up and give me a name through Blogger, then I don't want to hear from them...

Cute picture of Duke ---who looks unhappy about that terrible anonymous person.
Hugs,
Betsy

Seriously...I used to get those all the time, but now I don't accept anonymous comments. However, that still does not stop them from trying to leave their "interesting" comments, along with links. Since Blogger does not allow us to easily edit links, I just delete the comment and link.
:)

Definitely bizarre Ann...I am always a little dubious about anyone who leaves a comment under 'Anonymous'...and a little weird how they haven't commented on this post...the one dedicated to them?!?!?!?
