How did I miss that?

The pictures below are of a house that sits across the street from my side yard. There used to be a little old man living there but his health had been declining and he went in to a nursing home then passed away shortly there after. The house was put up for sale and we were suspecting that the church behind it had purchased the property because they were using the garage to store their lawn mowers. Last week they had closed off the big garage door and moved it to the opposite side.

The other day I get home from work and Wade says they are tearing down the house across the street. I think I looked at him like he was losing his mind and said "What? I just drove right by there, they are not" Of course not being able to take his word for it I stuck my head out the back door.
"What? How did I miss that?"

It was an old house but I didn't think it was in that bad of shape although I had never seen the inside of it. It's really kinds of sad and it looks so strange without it there. Come to think of it this may have something to do with the post I did a while back asking neighbors to remove their homes so I could have an unobstructed view of the sunset. What do you think? It could happen couldn't it?

It's weird that a house just gets torn down....Most of our houses are brick and semi detached or terraced so to take one down there would always be at least another.

It seems a shame that they took down such an eye pleasing structure and left the brown one behind standing....however if they are doing this for your sunset view then obviously the brown one will be going as well then your view will be totally unobstructed...I guess we just have to wait and see!!

Still can't believe you missed it though Ann...you must have been really intent on getting home!!

Oh! I guess your wish for an unobstructed view came true...;-)
The houses here are made of brick and would take a while to tear down!

It IS kind of sad though isn't it? Same thing happens here in my neighborhood...one day things are there...next day...gone!! Guess both of us better pay more attention! ha!

Alas, another neighborhood watch tragedy. (LOL?)

Oh, I'm sure that's what it is!! Could you please wish that my weirdo neighbors all move away?? Please???

That's a shame to see such a nice house torn down. I guess they don't want the responsibility of the house--or the taxes. I guess that is better than letting it fall apart, right?

Really sad, Ann.
But you have at least a picture of what it looked like from the outside.
Best wishes,
Anna

Isn't it funny how you can totally miss things? Last year our next door neighbor had a huge pine tree that was on our adjoining front property line cut down. I didn't even notice it was gone, even with my husband telling me to look and see what was different about our front yard! Crazy!!

Please don't blame yourself! However if they build a monstrosity there...

They may just turn it into more of the church parking lot. That's usually what happens. I want another post when this lot is used for something. Just saying.

I wouldn't worry about your wish unless more houses come down for that view you want.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

The power of a blog! It was very nice of them to accommodate your wish but it does seem a bit sad that they could not use the house in some way.

LOL, Ann, that is sad that they are tearing down that house even if you did want a better view of the sunset. It is still very sad. Maybe someone nice will buy the property and put up a nice house. Take care.

The house looks a lot nicer than a few houses that I renovated recently.

Is that your garden? it's looking good.

I love how Duke appeared in the photo. It always makes me happy when he makes an appearance. I can't believe you missed it when you drove by. I guess you hypnotized yourself while driving.

See, what you wish for really does come true :) Seriously thought a house being torn down just like that is very strange. The bright side is, you have your unobstructed view :)

How strange your wish is coming true! It is sad. Maybe they're going to rebuild.

Let's just hope they don't build a taller house there now!

Whoa...how interesting is this? Very!
I like the old house. Why did they tear it down?

Hmmmmmmm-- wonder what they will do with that property? Do you think the church bought it? Guess you'll find out... Glad you might get your sunset though.... ha

Hugs,
Betsy
