I read a very sad email this morning from my friend Debbie. She had to make the tough decision to send her little Dixie to the bridge yesterday morning.
In her words:
It's a sad day here today. This morning we had to put Dixie down.
She has
been having issues with the collapsing trachea for a while
now, but nothing
near the way it was when we came home from work
yesterday.
We were up
all night with her as her breathing was labored. We
couldn't get an appt
with the vet until this morning at 9:20 in
Kinsman OH. We drove her there
and after a consult with the vet, the
best decision was to not let her
suffer, so we didn't.
Dixie has been with Debbie and her husband Bernie for a very long time and I know that they are very saddened by their loss. Today's special second post is dedicated to the memory of Debbie's little Dixie.
The following picture was included in the email she sent me.

Oh gosh... such a very sad day for Debbie and family. Dixie was so cute... what a heavenly face she had, almost as if she is smiling at the camera.
I'm so sorry for their loss. :-((
Hugs to Debbie and Bernie.
I understand how they feel.
What a sweet little face! I know that they have to be heartbroken. May God give them comfort in the days ahead.
Oh I feel so bad for them and how lonely they are going to be. I am so sorry. sandie
My sincere sympathy - we've all had to do the difficult but right thing for our fur babies. Leaves a big hole in your heart and life.
I am so sorry for Debbie, this is just heartbreaking!! Dixie looks so sweet! I see I had missed your walk with Duke below, I don't know how that happened! Very funny post!!!! You know if Duke takes the lead in the walk that he IS the Alpha Dog!!!
so sad, so precious. a beautiful little girl.
This is so very sad. I'm not looking forward to the day that we lose our Little Bit. Not one bit.
Scritches to Duke. :(
Oh, Debbie and Bernie--I'm so sorry that you lost your dear sweet Dixie. I know how your heart is hurting. Sending love and hugs in this very difficult time. :(
Dixie looks like she was very sweet and cute. I'm very sorry she had to go to the Bridge.
Thank you, Ann, for posting this wonderful tribute to Dixie. Thank you for all the posted wishes from everyone. I thought today might be a little easier on us, but I'm finding out it's going to take a long time. She was with us from 8 weeks old, Bernie bought her for me for Valentine's Day 2000. We're trying to keep busy doing things around the house, and it's still not easy. Hugs to Duke, Ann. I'm sure Dixie is watching over him from up above. Love ya!!
My sympathy goes out to Debbie. Beautiful picture of Dixie. This is very sweet of you Ann.
what a cutie. Many hugs to Debbie.
We're sorry to hear that Dixie had to go to the Bridge. Our thoughts and purrs are with Debbie. We know how bad it hurts to lose a furbaby but the pain will never take away the love and smiles that Dixie brought and her memory will continue to too.
Very sad. I can sympathise I have been down that road a few times.
So sad...yet so nice that you can do the best by your animals when they are really suffering...I know how she must be feeling as I have gone through it three times with dogs and a few times with my cats....but they will always have those wonderful memories. xx
How sad! Dixie is a little cutie!
My heart goes out to them. Losing a furry baby is always so tough.
Oh... my heart goes out to them... to loose a beloved four legged creature is to loose a beloved member of the family - and one who always makes us glad. So hard...
It is such a very difficult and painful decision...but I have had to go through it myself so I do understand how they feel. My heart goes out to them. Dixie Girl was a little sweetheart. May they find comfort that she is no longer suffering. My heart goes out to the family.
Her Dixie looks just like our little Grayson. Oh how I am dreading that day.
Please tell Debbie..."Grieve not nor speak of her with tears, but laugh and talk of Dixie as if she were beside her...it was Heaven here with her...she loved her so..."...:)JP
This is so sad. My heart goes out to your friend Debbie and her family. May their memories be of some comfort. xxo
