Let them eat cake

Today I thought I would give you a closer look at the cake I made at work that was almost a few sizes too small.

Just to clarify, we don't actually bake the cakes there. We have them shipped in frozen and I only decorate them.

The order call for red flowers, a teddy bear and it was supposed to say "Bear one anothers burdens Congratulations Albion Chapter #22.
I was wondering how I was going to fit all of that on the 1/4 sheet cake that the order said. A 1/4 sheet cake is a 13 x 9 size cake.

I was thankful that this really was a bigger cake since that gave me plenty of room to fit everything on.

A closer look at the teddy bear. I've always been very critical of how my cakes look. I'm never satisfied. Years ago when I made a comment about one of my cakes not looking so good to my boss he told me that even though I didn't like it the person ordering it would be happy with it because it was most likely way more than they could do themselves.

I kind of winged it on the bear. I drew one on a piece of paper first and then did an outline on the cake with the brown frosting then just filled it in

I think your bear is wonderful, way better than I could ever do! I'm sure the customer loved it, he looks to be a very friendly and fluffy bear ☺

You-all don't actually bake the cakes? Are they made in China or worse--Canada? For shame! For shame!! For shame!!!

You did an awesome job on the cake decorations, Ann! I wouldn't be able to get the writing done so neatly!

the cake if just right and so is the bear.. we are all our own worst critics. you would NOT want to see a bear I drew and put icing on...

Well, I'm impressed! Do you like cake-decorating? I am always tempted to take some of those classes to learn how.

You did a great job on all of the cake! When I worked in a bakery, I dreaded being asked to write a name on a cake since I just can't write with frosting. I could make roses though! I took a cake decorating class a couple of years ago and now I can do lots of things but I never make cakes since I really don't need to eat them. :(

Yes, I love this. And I got some decorating tips too! The cake is awesome! And I think decorating is much harder than baking. I am glad to finally get a better look at it. Your writing is wonderful, too. I know it is very hard to write anything at all with icing. I will be looking forward to more!!
