Last night for lack of something better to do, I played with the camera. I was trying to get a good picture of a candle flame. It wasn't working out the way I wanted.
Either the flash went off and it looked like this
Or no flash and the flame just looked like a bright blurry blob.
I played with different settings including the manual setting. Still haven't got everything figured out yet but that's ok. More excuse to keep playing.

Lots of different ways to snap it! I turn the flash off and do macro.
I like your pretty St. Patrick's decor. Keep playing and be sure to share the results here.
That first picture may look better than you think. When I first saw it I thought the flame was moving.
I think the first shot is pretty good! Have fun!
....I'm right there with you, I love 'playing' with the camera features. Besides, it fun!!
Actually, I like 'em both...they're neat photos.
I like it with the flash. But, that's just me.
It is fun to play with the camera and see what works. I do like the first picture.Looks good to us.
the best way to get the flame with your new camera is put on the long lens, stand about 8 feet away and use zoom to focus on just the flame. you can't get a clear photo of flame and the candle holder. that is really hard. sent in a chair and practice zooming on small things, hold the button down and keep trying to get it to focus. I did that for hours. the short lens will work, just play a few feet away and use zoom on it to...
I am The Expert on PLAYING and PLAYING with FIRE...but you knew that. when I saw the title I got All Excited
backlighting or side lighting might help, now you will have me playing with fire. LOL
I love the one with the flash the best. Too cute. Love that decoration.
Have a fabulous day off. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥
I like the second one best because it's glowing and soft looking. :) when I've taken pics of the fire in the fp I put it on manual and step back about four feet. :) I've got so much on my camera to learn. lol
happy Saturday!! we're off to look at more houses. :)
hugs,
Marie
I like that second shot a lot. What were you trying to capture?
