A while back I had mentioned that I had a project lined up using a charger plate. Well I kind of stalled out on that one.
I took a gold Dollar Tree charger plate and spray painted it black then dry brushed it with some off white. I can't decide if I like the look or I want to paint over it.
In the meantime I took a silver Dollar Tree platter and painted it as well. This one I started with black then off white and added some gold metallic. Again, can't decide if I like it or not. It's supposed to look aged and I think I accomplished that.
Even though I didn't know if I liked the look of the silver platter I found a quote I liked and was going to cut it from vinyl and put it on this tray. I cut it twice and messed it up twice. I got frustrated and decided to walk away.
So now I have these two waiting for me to do something with them.
If that wasn't enough I painted a 5x7 Dollar Tree stretched canvas for another project I have in mind. I may need to repaint this because the paint job looks horrible. Of course it could be the paint I used. It's a bit on the old side.
So that's what I have waiting for me to work on. I may decide to finish these or I may start an entirely new project.

I await the outcomes!
I'm with Ginny. The important thing is not to force yourself to do anything. You work hard enough that this should be play time, it should add joy to your life.
the good news is, its only paint and if you can't decide to do anything with all 3 of these the way they are you can always PAINT them again.. have fun deciding what to do...
Unfinished projects is my middle name!
Your paint job on the canvas could also be due to the material and what it was treated with of the canvas. Some are just hard to cover. Also some paints are more opaque and usually require more paints. I love the second plate you did. Great job giving it that older aged look. Can't wait to see the finished project. It dawned on me that it is August and usually this is the time I do my Christmas card, I need to think about the design and get busy. Like to get it done. As for ornaments this yr., grands and daughter will get one, the babies in the family but for the rest of the family, I just don't have it to give.
Honest opinion - dump the charger plates. The canvas - well that's just something waiting for something to happen to it - so, make it happen!
I can see potential in all of them. I have been watching YouTube tutorials and learning so much about layering, stencils, collage... I like the distressed chargers and the canvas...
I like the process and even if they just stay "waiting" - line them up somewhere and and have them on display...time will show you what you want to do with them.
What a great idea! I love using these for candles or seasonal decorations! You are so creative. I'll be working on cards this coming week thanks to you! Hugs!
Interesting. Looking forward to what you do with them. I've never heard the term charger plate??
Hopfully there will be some.
You are so right. When I do try to force it you can tell and I usually make a mess of things.
LOL, mine too
These are cheap dollar tree canvases and I don't know if they are treated with anything or not. The only red paint I had was an acrylic enamel.
I look forward to seeing your ornaments and card for the year
LOL, somehow I knew you would think that.
YouTube is a great place to learn new tricks. Most of the time I like to just dive in and start playing and see what I end up with. Probably not the best method but it's how I"ve always done things.
Thanks. So far they are still waiting. Maybe some day they'll speak to me.
I like what you did to the plates! I can't wait to see what you do to that red canvas.
I've already painted over the larger charger plate because although I initially liked it the more I looked at the more I didn't.
