I've been gobbled

Yesterday I got home from work and found this sitting on my porch
The box wasn't sealed just tied up with a string and there was no return address or anything like that on the box. I took it inside opened it up and what a nice surprise.
This note was inside.
 it says
You've been gobbled. The air is cool the season fall. Soon Thanksgiving will come to all. With the holiday season drawing near let's all spread a bit of cheer. We are thankful for our friends a great big gobble to you we send. It's your turn to pass it on now but don't fret we'll tell you how. Think of a friend a special one and share with them something fun. Add a treat, like  turkey feet and copy this to make it complete. How to play 1 enjoy your treat 2 places turkey on a window or door 3 you have 48 hours to make a copy and share it with a neighbor or to simply add a treat and pass it on. But shhhh, it's a secret.

Here's a picture of the turkey that I'm supposed to put in my window.

I have no idea who left this for me but it made my day. I've seen things like this but have never gotten one before or even left one for someone else. Now I need to find a few treats to leave for someone else.

This is so cool! Something so fun and safe in the time of Covid. Do you have any idea who gave it to you?

it would drive me nuts trying to figure out who left it. has to be a neighbor or someone close.. never seen this done before.. i wonder if it was a child? see I told you even though it is yours i am working on Who Done It

Ginny, I haven't got a clue who left it. My neighborhood isn't sociable and I don't talk to any of them. The ones next door are my age and in poor health so I know it wasn't them.

This is just such a cool thing. I, tho, watch too many news programs & crime dramas...I'd be cautious to the extent of not even opening it.

Anni, I think if I lived in a bigger city I might be a little leary but this is a super small town where very little ever happens.

Oh, this sounds like so much fun! Let us know who you decide to treat, and do you know their schedule enough to leave their treat without them seeing you?

I don't get it...Do you keep all this stuff and then make another, different, gift box to pass on. Or do you add something to THIS gift box, keeping none of it, and pass it on - and if so, who gets to keep the ultimate gift box? and while everyone seems to think this fun and kind, I think it's presumptuous and perhaps a burden a the recipient. Then again, I suppose anyone doing this knows the capabilities of the receiver and their ability to play along. If your next door neighbors are in poor health I think putting together a useful gift box and leaving out the part about passing it on would be a real blessing...

Well, that's FUN! Looks like someone with a child??? Hmmm....

So,the question is...who are YOU going to gobble?

That is neat! If I wasn't so much of an introvert, I'd do this. Cute idea with children.

When I was younger and my children were young, we used to send a plate around the block with holiday cookies. Then we were supposed to bake some and give it to the next-door neighbor. It was a huge hit. Another one was the Amish starter. We'd received a delicious Amish bread/cake and a small batch of starter. Once we "fed it" we were instructed to keep one batch for us, share the other batches with others. That was done every year for many years.

I'm in a different neighborhood now - not friendly neighbors. Everybody keeps to themselves and act as if they will shoot you, if you even come into their yards. LOL

I like who ever came up with the idea of Gobbling, your neighborhood sounds nice. Your story warmed my soul and put a smile on my face.

Cynthia, I thought so too

Grace, Yep you keep all the stuff unless of course you choose to regift it. I'm keeping what was in the box though. I suppose it could be a burden to some if they feel obligated to keep this going but I think it's more about giving secretly. I do agree that a useful box for neighbors without the passing on thing would be better.

Kate, I've heard of this before and for other holidays but I've never gotten one

Sandee, it really did. It was a nice surprise when I got home

Lin, That's what I was thinking. There aren't many kids in this neighborhood any more though and most of the ones I've seen aren't old enough to be able to write. I think I'm going to gobble the new neighbors across the street. They're a young couple with a little boy about 2.

Grandma C. it is a cute idea

CheerfulMonk, I thought so.

This reminded me of being "ghosted" or "Casper'ed" or whatever it was called years ago for Halloween. The doorbell would ring and there would be a package from a "ghost." This freaked my kid out so BADLY!! He seriously was so afraid that a ghost left us a package of candy that he was TERRIFIED! No matter what we told him, he would not believe it was not a ghost. What a nightmare.

what a nice surprise - Ms Gobbler - and yep, maybe it's someone who knows you go to work "early" even someone who happens to know someone else...tis a nice mystery and useful to boot.
