A little cleaning out

Monday I spent my day off doing multiple things. I spent a lot of time drinking coffee and playing on the computer. Next I did a little crafting experiment which I'll show you tomorrow. I also did some cleaning out. I went through my bedroom closet and cleared out all the clothes that no longer fit me or I no longer wear. They are now sitting in an overflowing laundry basket waiting for me to bring some boxes home to work.  I still have dresser drawers to go through as well as a cedar chest but this was a start.
I also cleaned out a couple kitchen cupboards and got rid of some outdated food that was taking up space. Would you believe corn syrup that had a best by date of 2009?
I'm hoping that 2021 can finally be the year that I get determined enough to clean all of the junk out of my house

Wow, you got a LOT done!!! It makes me tired just reading about it. I am doing the same thing, clearing out the rooms and taking bags and boxes to Goodwill. But I don't think I have gotten this much done in one day.

You've inspired me to do some cleaning of my own. We are on the third day of our third lockdown and I'm being lazy.

Good for you, Ann. The "clean out bug" has settled over here too... the only bug I welcome into my home. *haha* It sounds like you're making great progress! ~Andrea xoxo

You go girl! It's a start. 2009 best by date, huh? Hmmmm, you could probably use that for glue on your crafts (kidding of course). I look forward to you revealing your new project tomorrow!

You say you hope to get all the mess out of your house by 2021 ... Now I hope to do that in my house too!

I perfectly understand the clutter free home. Being that I had foot surgery about 7 weeks ago and still can't do much, let me say that I am ready to start cleaning and purging. I really can't do it yet, but it will happen.

That's one heck of a busy day - but satisfying I bet. We have a separate storage room down the hall from our apartment and I've been loading that up against the time the lockdown is over. Our condo board pays the trash pick-up company to do a once-a-year junk clean out. They will even come up to your apartment and remove big stuff you can't carry down to the truck. Man I love that little perk but we missed this year's clean out. It's also time for a clean out of my husband's 'work' clothes - all those gorgeous suits and sports jackets *sigh* he'll never wear again plus his custom made tuxedo...ah the good old days of sartorial splendor...

WTG! I have been working on getting rid of stuff for years. I am down to the nitty gritty where there is still top much stuff. But it is all stuff I use.

Looking forward to seeing what you have made.

congrats for starting the New Year clean up before the new year. keep on keeping on... the last time i cleared the meds basket, you know over the counter stuff, i would things all the way back to 2001 and a lot between that date and 2009. tossed it all. my computer room needs a whole day to get rid of things. hundreds of CD's which are not recycleable. more work than i want to do. i am trying to get my self to roll the trash can on the porch and start pitching it full without even looking at it. the stuff i am talkabout has not been looked at or touched in about 10 years

Doesn't it feel good to go through your stuff and clean it out? I do it with every season and it helps to keep it manageable. It also helps that we don't have a basement, so I don't have anywhere to collect more junk.

BTW...I saved the card that you sent me. I just love my little smiley gingerbread guy! He is so cute!

It sure feels good to purge doesn't it? I recently threw out graham cracker crumbs that expired in 2015.

It's hard to do, but it's wonderful when you do. We've been doing this very thing for months now and it's amazing the difference. Less is more. I've found things I didn't even know I had.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Ginny, well it's more than I usually do. I just hope I can keep going

Andrea, I've been saying this for years that I want to clean my house as if I were moving. It never gets finished though

Anni, glue huh? I never thought of that. I might have to experiment.

Ella, I hope because I keep saying I'm going to but never get it finished.

Carol, clutter free would be heavenly

Grace, that would be nice having someone come and carry out big stuff.

Lin it does but there is just so much stuff that has accumulated over the years. It gets overwhelming. Aww, I'm glad you liked your card

Sandee, it is hard. I've always had a hard time letting go of things

Cynthia, It's been time to declutter here for a very long time now.

I've been picking away at that kind of activity - for what seems forever. But when I wanted to have the windows in my spare room "accessible to open" I had a reshuffle in there - most of it stayed but now more organised. ...
