Cake day

One day last week I had to do two cakes in one day. Both were quarters sheet cakes. Both wanted red and yellow. The first one I liked.

The second one was not so great looking. They wanted balloons on the cake which I can do but they don't always look very good. Also, in addition to the red and yellow they wanted black and white balloons. Personally I thought this cake looked horrible.

I have no idea what the  customer thought about it since she didn't pick it up till after I left. She didn't leave any complaints about it so that's a good thing.

Hey little girl! We ALL make frosting boo boos! Instead of doing swirls for the balloons, use a round tip and do big "dots", pulling downward on the ends where the ribbon begins...I watched youtubers do it that way...too cute.
(look at me telling a pro how to do something!lol)
I Love the first cake! Really pretty!!

I think they both turned out great...I wonder though about the black and white balloon.

They both look great. I just don't get why they wanted the black and white balloons. That does throw it off a bit.

i am wondering if maybe that is school colors or a team that he likes colors. it looks good to me, just not the colors. red is one of my favorite colors but not on a cake.

Both cakes look nice but I agree that the first one is definitely better looking.

I don't think the second cake looks that bad, but I like the idea of going to YouTube for suggestions for the balloons if you want to try something different.
Here's one person's suggestion:

Well, the second cake. There is nothing wrong with your decorating, but she chose horrible color combinations. Almost Halloweenish.

I know what you're mean and my favorite is your first cake - which I think is stunning. And your balloons are still a lot better looking than what I could do :)
