I drive a 2015 Ford Escape. I'm 99% certain that the tires on it are the ones that came with the vehicle when I bought it brand new. The last few years I've been expecting them to tell me I need new tires when I go for yearly inspection.
The last several months, when I drive at a slow speed, the steering wheel shakes like crazy. My low tire pressure light has come on several times and I've been taking it to my son to put air in the tires for me. He mentioned how worn they were looking one of the times he put air in. It's gotten to the point where I'm not really feeling safe driving it.
I went on Walmart.com and ordered 4 new tires and set an appointment for them to be put on. The sale went through the appointment was set. Later I get a text saying it had been cancelled because the tires were out of stock. I went online and it shows they still have the tires. I call and talk to the guy who really was no help in explaining why I was even able to set the appointment if they didn't have them. He couldn't even give me an estimate as to when they would have them back in stock.
I did what I should have done in the first place. I called a local place that does specializes in tires. I told the guy what I wanted and he said that the tires I was going to get from Walmart are sold exclusively to Sam's club. He told me he had a tire that was comparable to what I was going to get though. He gave me a price for 4 tires with installation that came out to $73 less than what the price was at Walmart. I asked when he could put them on and he said the next day. I'll take it.
I didn't get a picture of the guy who kept me company while I waited but it was a great big dog who would come see me every time he walked in the room. It was supposed to take an hour and I think they had it done in about 45 minutes. Why I didn't call them to begin with is beyond me but I can guarantee that if I need tires in the future they will be my first call.
Just a reminder about my giveaway. There were several comments that didn't specify if they wanted in on the drawing or not. If you do want in please leave me a comment there saying so. I'll pick the winner Friday and announce it on Saturday.

What a story. I'm so glad it worked out this well for you. Just shows that you have to shop around for car repairs.
And how is the car driving now?
You really got your money out of the original tires. We always use a local tire place also. I don't trust Walmart with anything, especially my vehicle.
Specialists are often cheaper and more efficient than general dealers.
YAY Ann on taking matters into your own hands with the tires, getting a good deal on good tires and at a better price. Do you know what kind of dog it was.
Big dogs are often sweet and goofy
Hugs Cecilia
Ah Ann so glad you found someone who could take care of your tire situation. We have found that Walmart is not the place to go for oil changes and tires. Like you we go to our local shops. They always seem to do a much better job and also closer. Well take care dear one and have a blessed week. Hugs!
Well I am glad to hear that you were able to get new tires on the car. That's kinda crazy about Walmart.
Now you know where to go for tires and at a cheaper price. Good for you.
I already put my name in the hat for the giveaway.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥
It's a wonder the garage didn't warn you about your tyres. Glad you're safe on the road again.
Yay on the great deal for your tires. Local is good too. I'm so glad you will be safe now.
I would love to be entered in your drawing. You do such fantastic work.
Have a great day.
Sue
if the tire guy does inspections, consider that option when u need one. sounds like a keeper!
We go to a place here by us that just does tires too. We are in and out the same day in about an hour.
Very important to have good tires.
We do the penny test. Put a penny between the treads, if all of Lincoln's head is showing, it's time to get new tires. :)
Glad you won't go to Walmart again. ;) That local tire place sounds like a good place with nice people and dog. :)
I'm glad you found a reliable place. The dog was a great bonus!
That is strange that Walmart would let you make the appointment and then they didn't even have the tires. Glad you found this other place and that he can get you fixed up..
I am glad you got new tires put on your car for your own safety. Don't understand Walmart.
Bob said that should have fixed the wheel shaking. Did it? what a great experience and why is here no photo of the DOG, not just a tire...hahahaha that would have been my favorite part of the new tire installation
Glad you were able to get a better deal than Wally's.
