The long weekend that wasn't.

While everyone is enjoying the 3 day weekend I'll be heading off to work today. Sucks to be me. I had yesterday off and I have Monday off and since the Memorial Day holiday falls on my regular day off I do get another day off during the week. I'll have Tuesday off. Still it's not the same as having 3 days in a row.

Enough of the whining. Since the weather has taken a dramatic change here and we skipped from pre spring like weather right to the dog days of summer I've been spending my time after work out in the back yard reading. Since we had that new deck built last year you would think that's where I'm spending my time but I'm not. No shade there and I need shade.

I've got my own little spot set up under the tree in our back yard.

Gibbs hates the sun too but he likes going back there under the tree with me and hanging out in the shade. I had a different chair out there but I splurged yesterday and bought a couple cheap Adirondack chairs at Walmart yesterday. I almost bought three, one red, one white and one blue but changed my mind and just got the two red ones.

It is a beautiful and inviting spot! Yes, it has been 90 here! Can't even sit under a tree till evening. But I'm not complaining, at least the 21 straight days of rain are gone.

Lucky you...a spot like that in OUR yard and I'd be carried away by mosquitoes.

I like the two red chairs on the green grass.

That looks like a great spot to sit outside and read. That is such a great thing to do. I do it all the time. Have a great Sunday and a better Monday.

I would love this. In the shade with a good chair and an even better book. Well there is Gibbs too, but it's perfect.

Sorry you have to work today, but you'll have the next two days off. That rocks.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

We've had the same weather pattern but with more rain. No Spring at all here. We've went from late Winter to high Summer in a matter of three days. Your work schedule sucks in that 2 consecutive days off is probably more rejuvenating than one on/one off. The upside is that a day off during the work week means taking care of errands can be easier and faster because everyone else is at work! The photo is lovely...I've never found those kinds of chairs comfortable but they must be for the majority of folks or they wouldn't have been around for so long!

Your shady spot looks wonderful. I also use a bar stool as a table (out on my porch) they are the prefect height to set a cold drink and don't take up much room. The best part is it can also work as an extra seat if you need it:) Sorry about your split weekend.
