Oh beans

It's been over 23 years since my dad passed away and I don't think there's a day that goes by that I don't think of him and miss him. So what do beans have to do with any of that? Well my dad was not one to swear. You would hear him mutter "oh beans" rather than a 4 letter alternative. My brother and I did however catch him almost slip once. He got the sh out before he caught himself.  He was a carpenter by trade and rumor had it that even on the job, if he would accidentally hit his finger with a hammer he would say darn or beans. It's kind of a shame that I didn't follow his good example. At least I don't let the bad words slip out at inappropriate times

Good for him!!!

Now, how 'bout some of those beans. Got tortillas? I'll bring the margaritas.

I often used to explain when I hit my finger with a hammer I didn't say gosh darn. I admire that quality in a person because I have let it slip in company who might have preferred oh beans.

beautiful shot of the beans, a curse word never passed my mothers lips. I wish I could say the same.

My dad has been gone a very long time too. When he was young he would cuss like a sailor. I guess that's where us kids got that trait. I don't do too much cussing anymore. Finally learned that it's not necessary.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Your dad sounds like a gentleman and a gentle soul. Sounds like you lost him when he was young. I am so sorry.

Isn't it lovely how small ordinary things remind us people we love...

He sounds like a true gentleman Ann, that generation could teach a whole lot to the current one couldn't they? My Dad is the same, never heard him swear in my presence either. Have to admit though that I occasionally let loose with a string of profanity that would make a sailor blush but only when I'm the only one to hear it! 😂 Deb xo
