Seen one, you've seen them all

I'm beginning to think I'm in a rut with the cakes I do at work. Any more it seems like you've seen one you've seen them all. This was one I did last Friday

This is for sure an art form!!! So cool that your job lets you use your creativity.

I always love to see them. I'm in awe of your talent --- I just imagine what a mess I would make if I tried it.

Your cakes always look lovely. Is the icing pleasant tasting? One of our local supermarkets that does cake decorating has vile tasting icing. :)

a birthday cake by any other name is still a birthday cake. and the good news is, we only get ONE a year, so it is ok if they are the same... your cakes are beautiful so why change them....

You may feel like they all look alike, but your customers don't! You do such lovely work, Ann!

Very pretty. I can't decorate anything so I'm always most impressed with what you do.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Unless you are going to go all "Cake Boss" (and I bet you could come up with some awesome cakes) your cakes probably delight every recipient. You've done some fab personalized cakes in the past, and will most certainly do more. While you may think this is kinda ho-hum, done it before, the folks who get the cake will be thinking "Wow - this is gorgeous!"

You are making what people are looking for and probably exactly what your boss wants from you. If you want to do something different maybe you should decorate a couple cakes at home and take them into work and show them to your boss. You might start something new with special orders and even make yourself more valuable to the bakery and have more fun with your amazing talent.
Just a thought.
Connie :)

Ginny, I think that's my favorite part of the job

Cheerfulmonk Thanks, I've come a long way since the first one I did. I learned on the job.

Anni, you got it

Sheryl thank you

Lin, you are absolutely right. I should consider it my signature design but I think it's time I throw in a new trick or two...lol

Sandee, that's kind of what my boss once told me when Iwas saying that I didn't like the way my cakes looked. He said that most people can't decorate at all so they would think it was great

Grace, I have no desire to be "Cake Boss"...lol You are absolutely right about how the customers would feel. I just get bored with doing the same old same old.

It's pretty! I wish I could decorate like that!

But each one is a work of art that most people cannot do.

would your boss pay for you attend some one-on-one sessions with a tutor, who give you a bit of a boost, on some slightly different techniques. Sometimes we just need a bit of a refresher jumpstart to show us something that we could tweak to make it better...and in the end, make you feel better about "cakes and decoration"

Ann said...

Catherine, nope, not likely that the boss would pay for something like that. He's perfectly happy with what I'm doing and so are the customers really. I'm the only one who's bored with my cakes...lol
