Pardon me

I've got nothing so I thought I would take a moment to go on a bit of a rant. The problem is there are several issues that are infuriating me right now and I don't know which one to complain about. I think it will be the most recent one. All day at work yesterday I kept hearing people talk about how they could stop wearing a mask now because they were vaccinated. Supposedly it was in the  paper that if you have gotten the vaccine then you can stop wearing a mask. OK, so isn't that just going to end up with a whole bunch of people both vaccinated and not going around with no mask? I mean it's not like the people who have been vaccinated have a great big V tattooed on their forehead. I'm neither for or against getting vaccinated. If you want to fine, get one. If you don't then don't. It should be your choice. But this just feels like the government saying "if you eat all your vegetables then you can have a great big ice cream cone when you're done".

I'm sure there are plenty of people who will disagree with me on this point and that's fine. You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine.

Well, if you are vaccinated, you are safe to be around, so you don't have to wear a mask. But if you have not been vaccinated, you could have Covid and give it to someone, so wear a mask to protect others.

In fact, a lot of people will probably stop wearing masks even if they haven't been vaccinated. I may continue to wear mine in grocery stores. We'll see.

I guess you should start carrying your vaccine card with you for proof. (Or a photo of the card)

I'm with you about choice tho.

The government is taking over our lives by the minute. No freedom of choice any more...and to me, that's unAmerican.

Ginny, I agree that being vaccinated makes you safer. Not 100% safe because there are no guarantees with this. Saying you can stop wearing a mask if you are vaccinated will just make a whole bunch of non vaccinated people stop wearing them and saying yes, I was vaccinated.

CheerfulMonk, that's what I thought exactly

Anni, I doubt people will carry a vaccine card with them at all times. But even if they did that just seems like another government control thing to me.

Sadly, there will always be those who won't wear a mask even if they are NOT vaccinated. I'm curious why there is so much anti-vaxxing and whether this same thing happened with smallpox and polio vaccines in the past. Anyhoo, the unconscious cannot be enlightened. Meanwhile I guess we should do what we are comfortable with and for me that would be wearing a mask if I were shopping, etc.

I think they are jumping the gun on this. The people against vaccines have been fighting wearing masks to begin with, they aren't going to start now out of the kindness in their hearts to protect others.

Exactly...it's all about gov. Control

I am late I am late for a very important date. I did 4 hours of hard work today and am late getting to blogs. I wear my mask because I am terrifed of being put on a ventilator for a month before I die. I know not one but 3 people who died like that. I will wear mine no matter what others do. and hope it will protect me. i am vaccinated but don't trust that to protect me from the ones who choose to not wear the mask. I hate the mask but also hate ventilators

I agree with you...control, control, control. They would tell us when to breathe if they could. I won't rant here, but I could.

Bingo. I experienced this yesterday at the farm. The farm is a private organization and the Board of Directors will decide if masks are required to visit the farm. Remember, we have children of all ages, volunteers (young and old) that may or may not be vaccinated, PLUS animals that everyone is welcome to hold, snuggle, kiss, etc. For me, I would prefer the masks, but that is not reality. We still do not know enough about this virus and I think (and this is just me) that the recent change in mask wearing has a wee bit of politics/spin involved. I'm going to keep my mask on hand and put it on whenever I am uncomfortable. I can only protect myself at this point.

Our mask mandate has been lifted as of today but the places I usually go for my grocery shopping still require a mask. I don't care either way. I'm fully vaccinated but will continue to wear a mask where it's required.

Once I'm fully vaccinated I will keep wearing my mask in grocery stores and other enclosed areas with a lot of people.
It protects against the flu and other respiratory illnesses too! Haven't had a cold in forever - yay!

I agree that there would be no way of knowing who is vaccinated and who isn't. Also people who have been vaccinated can still get Covid! I know I'm still going to wear a mask.
